POSITION SUMMARY:

The Senior Accountant reports to the Accounting Manager and is a broadly-based role responsible for the day-to-day revenue accounting functions including the month end close process and account reconciliation activities, as well as assisting with various weekly, monthly, and quarterly financial reporting to senior management.

General Duties & Responsibilities

• Other related duties assigned as needed.
• Prepares balance sheet account reconciliations.
• Analyzes the financial statements and provides concise explanations for variances.
• Review new contracts and determine appropriate revenue recognition treatment. Ensure that the conclusion is appropriately documented and obtain sign- off by manager/Controller prior to recognizing revenue.
• Researches period over period variances in revenue and cost of sales, as needed, and provides logical explanations for fluctuations.
• Uses financial data to prepare and record general ledger journal entries.
• Responsible for adhering to all internal controls and policies as set forth by the Controller. Includes maintaining evidence of the timely control performance for audit and SOX purposes.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Accounting

Job Level Description

Moderate skills with high level of proficiency. Works under general supervision with increased latitude for independent judgment. Identifies non-routine issues and routes/escalates to appropriate team member. Works on multiple concurrent projects of medium complexity. Is an active team member, contributes to complex projects to gain experience, shares ideas and suggests process improvements appropriate for level of experience. Consults with senior peers on semi-complex processes to learn through experience.
