Senior Accountant - Reinsurance and Statutory Reporting – Tampa, FL

FinTrust Connect is excited to announce that we have partnered with a reputable insurance group in search of an experienced Senior Accountant in Tampa, FL. The successful candidate will have a strong background in reinsurance, statutory reporting, and property and casualty insurance. In this role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with regulatory requirements, and supporting the company's financial operations.

Requirements:

  • Proficiency in reinsurance accounting processes, including the analysis of reinsurance treaties, premium calculations, and claim recoveries.
  • Strong knowledge of statutory accounting principles, including US GAAP and relevant regulatory guidelines.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Professional certifications (e.g., CPA) are preferred.
  • Minimum of 4 years of progressive accounting experience in the reinsurance and property and casualty insurance industry.
  • Proficient in using accounting software and tools, with advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience with statutory financial reporting and the preparation of financial statements, footnotes, and related disclosures.


Description:

  • Oversee the reinsurance accounting process, including the recording, reconciliation, and reporting of reinsurance transactions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support financial audits and regulatory examinations, providing necessary documentation and responding to inquiries.
  • Participate in the implementation and enhancement of accounting systems and processes, driving efficiency and accuracy.
  • Prepare statutory financial statements, ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior accounting staff, promoting professional growth and knowledge sharing.
  • Monitor and analyze financial data, identifying trends, anomalies, and opportunities for process improvements.
  • Stay updated on industry developments, regulatory changes, and best practices related to reinsurance and statutory reporting.
  • Perform detailed analysis and reconciliation of general ledger accounts related to property and casualty insurance activities.
