General purpose of the job
Responsible for the quality of concrete produced at the plants within the division. Assists with the monitoring of best practices and techniques,
in regards to concrete quality. The position assists all levels of the operation in establishing and achieving quality objectives while working
closely with Operations, Sales and Management. Oversees and designs various concrete mixes to ensure proper mix specifications are used on each other, with special attention to projects requiring unique or “one-off” specifications.
Individual accountabilities
- Communicate and coordinate material test results to Quality Assurance Manager, Area Managers, and material vendors/suppliers to ensure timely resolution of material quality-related issues.
- Monitor Plant Batching Operations to ensure proper batching sequences as well as Batch procedures.
- Perform plant inspections for compliance with applicable Specifications and SOP's.
- Other duties or special projects as assigned by management.
- Evaluates product quality and performance to establish “Benchmarks” for products and raw materials.
- Takes appropriate actions to correct material failures and implements processes and procedures to prevent future problems.
- Monitoring and testing concrete performance during the placement phase to “early-identify” concrete performance problems at jobsite/projects.
- Perform field testing of concrete, including fresh and hardened properties along with air, slump, unit weight, and strength.
- Report monthly, mix optimization, deficiency, in mix performance, and number of bids and submittals produced for each division. Maintains all records of materials used in production of concrete, evaluates and tests raw materials in accordance with ASTM standards to ensure minimization of product failure.

Minimizes this risk through the development of trend analysis and product performance records.
- Communicates with dispatchers and other plant personnel on quality issues.

- ACI Strength Testing Technician Certification or ability to obtain within an 8 month period.
- ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician – Grade I or ability to obtain within 3 to 4 months of hire.
