Job Description
The Position The City of San Leandro is currently recruiting to fill a Property Clerk vacancy in the Police Department. The deadline to submit completed applications to Human Resources is May 26, 2023 by 5:00 p.m. Position Definition: Performs a variety of clerical duties involved with the operation of the property and evidence storage facility. The primary responsibilities of a clerk are to receive, store, inventory and release or dispose of property turned in as evidence; generate and maintain a variety of records and reports and performs related work as required. Supervision Exercised and Received: This class has no supervisory responsibility. Receives general supervision from assigned management and/or supervisory staff. Duties and Responsibilities Essential Functions: The essential functions of the classification may include, but are not limited to, the functions below and are subject to changes in operational necessity.

Qualifications Experience and Education Guidelines: Any combination equivalent to experience and education that would most likely provide the required knowledge and abilities would be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: Education: High school diploma or certified equivalent (GED); course work in administration of justice or a closely-related field is highly desired. Experience: Two years of responsible experience in the processing and filing of records, indexes and documents; experience in the storage and monitoring of property and evidence in a law enforcement environment is highly desired. Licenses, certificates and other requirements: Must pass a comprehensive background check and be willing to work such hours as are necessary to accomplish the job requirements; travel to attend meetings, seminars and conferences.
