Reporting to the Senior Manager of Regulatory Affairs, the Project Permitting Coordinator works closely with the Approvals Manager, Senior Manager ESG, Site Environment team, Community and Strategic Development Team, and the Project Team. The Coordinator coordinates and implements strategies and programs as they relate to environmental compliance of Baffinland’s approvals. Additionally the Coordinator is responsible for preparing data to support permit applications, preparing regulatory reports, and executing field programs and stakeholder engagement activities as they relate to the permitting process including communicating issues to the Senior Manager, Regulatory Affairs. This role is based in our Oakville, Ontario office.


  • Coordinate permitting related community engagement activities, technical meetings, Public meetings, and participate in those meetings as needed. Foster positive business relationships and build appropriate contact between NGOs, communities and company personnel.
  • Develop the training and education materials for Baffinland employees to ensure proper communication of regulatory requirements, as required.
  • Assist the Sustainable Development team with administrative functions and coordination of processes, including the analysis of project data and preparation of progress reports, as needed.
  • Coordinate contractors, including field work programs, to ensure the scopes of work and programs are successfully executed. Organize and maintain documentation related to scope of work, including permitting, field work, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Compile materials to support the communication of the applicable environmental regulations and permit conditions to personnel by providing guidance and expertise to ensure full compliance with all applicable environmental requirements.
  • Support the approval of major project expansions by coordinating the preparation of key permits, environmental assessments and field programmes
  • Coordinate the preparation of various professional reports and applications for submission internally and to government agencies, while ensuring that contributors adhere to provided timelines for deliverables.

  • Strong attention to detail
