Senior Associate
Remote (Company is Headquartered in Lynnfield, MA)
Set schedule of 40 hours a week
Salary between $90,000 and $110,000 (as well as PTO, Holidays, and Retirement)
Civitas Strategies is a national management consultancy that has helped mission-driven organizations increase their impact for over 14 years. Since our founding in 2009, Civitas Strategies’ work has impacted over one million children and families collectively served by its clients. The firm’s mission is to provide high-value support to help organizations become more efficient, effective, and sustainable.
Our projects and services center on supporting businesses and community-based organizations so children and families can thrive. Over the past three years, our work with child care businesses and systems has deepened and expanded, bringing stabilization, then sustainability to providers across the country. Now, we have contributed to child care business supports in 32 states, helped leverage hundreds of millions of dollars in stimulus funding, shared best business practices with thousands via trainings and webinars, and, based on available data, are directly training and coaching more providers and child care business coaches than any other organization.
Civitas Strategies is seeking a Senior Associate with a proven track record of success with project management, qualitative and quantitative data assessment, and written and oral communications. This opportunity is perfect for an entrepreneurial spirit and strategic thinker who is a quick, willing learner and has close attention to detail.
Because our team is geographically dispersed and the work is remote, the Senior Associate should have excellent time management skills and thrive with both independent and collaborative tasks and projects. A successful candidate will demonstrate a passion for improving the lives of marginalized children and families and working with the small businesses who serve them.
The Position
The Senior Associate will have four major areas of focus:
- Providing leadership and effective project management for a variety of client-facing projects including small business support, product design, training development, and systems and capacity building.
- Managing the creation and delivery of high-quality analysis, communications, and other products on time and within project scope.
- Offering direct service to small businesses through business coaching engagements and training opportunities.
- Supporting marketing and sales efforts for the firm, as needed.
Responsibilities
- Other duties as assigned.
- Client Relationships: Provide high-quality and responsive customer service by interacting with clients on a regular basis via email, telephone, and video conference calls. Lead client meetings by preparing agendas, materials, fielding questions, offering strategic advisement, and expertly guiding clients through all project activities.
- Coaching: Support small business owners and small business owners as they develop their business and its operation. Guide owners as they work to understand the systems and structures needed to stabilize and grow their business efforts.
- Grant Monitoring: Oversee the monitoring process for funding awards programs. Ensure compliance with the terms and conditions set forth by clients and federal and state regulations. Ensure funds are being used appropriately. Collect data on outcomes to evaluate impact of funding upon small businesses and communities they serve.
- Project Management: Oversee a variety of assigned projects including the design and development of internal systems, grant award monitoring, key tools and training products, and other mission-driven projects to ensure that a clear timeline of project milestones is in place and that all deliverables are effectively met on time. Delegate tasks appropriately and provide clear directives for staff on how to successfully complete an assignment.
- Communications and Product Development: Lead the communications, training, and product design process from concept to finalization, working collaboratively with clients to ensure that the product meets their needs and is of high quality. This includes conducting ideation meetings, preparing drafts, managing steps to produce iterations, and incorporating client feedback. Also support clients as they undertake efforts to build and refine their processes, procedures, and activities to increase their impact.
Core Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required, advanced degree preferred.
- Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills and the ability to problem solve, develop analyses, and draft recommendations.
- Advanced client interaction skills, collaborative work style, and strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to assess, prioritize, and reprioritize short-term and long-term activities for yourself and others.
- Ability to effectively identify project milestones and the subtasks needed to progress toward and achieve them.
- Experience in utilizing virtual communicative technology essential for working remotely including project management software and video conferencing platforms.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills including experience designing and creating effective products, tools, and training materials to support capacity building.
- Comfortable with remote/virtual technology (Zoom, Slack, Dropbox, Asana/Monday, Google Suite).
- At least three to five years of project or people management experience.
- Demonstrated respect and appreciation for different personality styles, thinking, backgrounds, and cultures.
- Comfortable using new technologies (for example, Chat GBT or Google Bard).
- Proficiency in the use of all Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
Compensation
Set schedule of 40 hours a week. Salary $90,000 to $110,000 (as well as PTO, Holidays, and Retirement). Civitas Strategies does not offer health insurance but does participate in a Qualified Small Employer Health Reimbursement Arrangement.
