The decentralized ecosystem that TBD is working to create with tbDEX will provide decentralized access to financial services. tbDEX is being designed with compliance in mind. As such we employ a decentralized approach to meet traditional compliance obligations such as identity verification, sanctions, and anti-money laundering compliance.

As TBD develops its own capabilities as a participating financial institution (“PFI”) on tbDEX, we need to build traditional fiat payments services and bitcoin transfer and storage solutions. This technical work requires product compliance expertise to document requirements and participate in the development phase of building internal systems and controls. In particular, these roles will provide compliance subject matter expertise for Block and TBD’s new bitcoin and stablecoin products, internal bitcoin and stablecoin custody solutions, and self-custody products (including the Bitkey self-custody wallet).

You will imagine and realize decentralized and self-custody products built on the tbDEX protocol that may be offered by TBD or other Block, Inc. teams. You will coordinate directly with all relevant partners including: Legal, Product, Engineering, Partnerships and BTC Operations to gain an understanding of our product goals and provide real-time guidance and requirements documentation to support TBD and Block’s products.

We are hiring two Product Compliance Managers. You will directly support either TBD’s PFI or Block’s bitcoin custody and self-custody solutions. Both positions report to TBD's Product Compliance Lead.

You Will:

• Identify potential risks (such as compliance, regulatory, financial, and fraud) and surface these risks together with proposed solutions to our partners
• In collaboration with Legal, translate regulatory, compliance, and risk requirements into business requirements and technical specifications for our partners
• Draft comprehensive compliance requirements documents and concise internal communications that can be understood by both technical and business audiences
• Understand the functional and technical design of blockchain, bitcoin and decentralized finance technology
• Coordinate with a variety of partners across departments and teams
• Understand and explain to internal partners how TBD’s products and systems will interact and the funds flow end-to-end, in particular for tbDEX where TBD’s product will be offered in conjunction with decentralized identity technology, back-end compliance controls, and customer-facing agents like bitcoin and identity wallets
• Provide real-time subject matter expertise and guidance to Block’s product managers and engineers, as new products and services are being developed or enhanced, to ensure ongoing compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements

Qualifications

• Intense professional curiosity and a growth mindset
• Experience with blockchain technology, decentralized ecosystems, and regulated cryptocurrency products and services
• Subject matter expertise with at least one of these subject matters is necessary: bitcoin exchange custody solutions, self-custody hardware or software wallets, or regulated blockchain exchange or payments services
• 5+ years of experience in a compliance project/product management role
• Demonstrated interest in decentralized identity and agreement on the principles of decentralized finance
• Experience presenting to senior leadership and proven ability to influence others
• Prior experience working for a regulated, reputable cryptocurrency company required

Additional Information

Block takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. U.S. locations are categorized into one of four zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Zone A: USD $184,100 - USD $225,000

Zone B: USD $171,200 - USD $209,200

Zone C: USD $162,000 - USD $198,000

Zone D: USD $152,700 - USD $186,700
