What to Expect
Responsible for supervising the Payroll Answer Bar Operation Team for decentralized payroll functions. Responsible for the quality and timeliness of responses to employee inquiries. This position is based in Austin, TX. Required to be in office every day with frequent multi-site travel. What You’ll Do

• Understand state and federal new hire, leave of absence, and termination laws.
• Produce audit reports, audit registers, and other reporting inquiries.
• Prepare Payroll Answer Bar Specialist annual performance reviews.
• System maintenance support including new hire set up, tax form processing, local tax set up, timekeeping input, benefit set up, termination processing, garnishment processing, and verification of employment.
• Review the calculation and processing of certain off-cycle manual checks.
• Oversee process efficiencies, projects, and overtime control.
• Review stop-payment, cancellation, reversal, and other online banking transactions.
• Assist with the process and review all payroll related interfaces.
• Train new Payroll Answer Bar Specialists according to latest policies and practices.
• Administration functions include filing, running reports, record keeping, and communication.
• Support month end, quarter and year-end activities.
• Supervise team of 7-8 staff member supporting 70K+ employees in a multi-state salaried and hourly payroll ensuring the accuracy of data entry and timely resolution of employee issues.
• Respond timely to telephone, e-mail, and mail inquiries.
• Interpret payroll policies and procedures to company employees of all levels.
• Lead team meetings for process and procedure updates.
• Liaison between the Payroll Answer Bar Specialists and the Payroll Management Team
• Develop and mentor direct reports for career development.
• Maintain close relationships with HR Business Partners assisting with their payroll inquiries and ensuring personnel data is received timely and accurately.
• Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
• Prepare metrics and analytics on performance and process.
• Conduct research and analysis to assist the department manager with special projects including government census completion, validation of earnings for compensation projects, W-2/T-4 preparation.

What You’ll Bring

• Follow oral and written directions.
• Knowledge of basic mathematics.
• High level understanding of systems and how they interface
• Exposure to high volume and multi-task work environments a plus
• Supervisory experience required
• Detail oriented, strong analytical skills, ability to detect inconsistencies in data, and ability to work with minimal supervision.

• Knowledge of UltiPro and Kronos strongly preferred
• Interpret company policies and procedures in a multi-state payroll environment.
• Ability to meet deadlines.
• Maintain confidential information when required by legal or ethical standards and professionalism to ensure privacy of employee records.
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, oral, and written communication skills required.
• Deal tactfully and courteously with the public and other staff when explaining the functions and policies in the Payroll Department.
• Minimum 4 year’s recent hands-on Canada and US payroll experience required.
• Bachelor’s Degree or CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) preferred.
• Some experience with audit procedures, tax, and accounting practices is preferred.
• Principles of work coordination and planning.
• Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
