Description


Job Overview


Responsible for input and verification of data to support the timely payroll for District employees. Specific duties include responding to payroll inquiries; supporting District employees who submit payroll; maintaining changes to employee tax withholdings and bank options; resolving direct deposit issues; entering journal entries; completing various forms; backing-up payroll manual checks; entering time and leaves into the PC system; requisitioning insurance payments; performing review of payroll.


Position Description


Essential Duties and Responsibilities


  • Maintain record systems and file
  • Receive incoming correspondence
  • Assist in the training of all new clerical and part-time personnel in payroll
  • Assist employees on proper completion of forms for submission to payroll and benefits
  • Receive and respond to pay-related inquiries using discretion and effective oral and written communication with employees, and outside agencies
  • Assist in the preparation of any and all reports as requested by the administration
  • Audit employee timesheets for hours worked and accuracy. Maintain, prepare and process payroll for organization personnel
  • Performs duties consisting of establishing and maintaining a variety of files; communicate with other departments and schools
  • Operate typewriter, word processor and computer

  • Knowledge of and experience with ten-key adding machine
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • High School Diploma or GED including or supplemented by courses in office practices and procedures
  • Minimum of 1 year in payroll processing
  • Knowledge of PeopleSoft. Knowledge of KRONOS

The position requires occasional walking, standing, sitting, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and lifting/carrying work related items weighing less than 40 pounds, such as books, papers and presentation materials. The employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Attendance at conferences and professional development is required. Work involves everyday risks and discomforts which require normal safety precautions when operating equipment or performing job duties. May work prolonged or irregular hours and must be able to maintain emotional control under stress.
