About This Role
As an operations manager, you will manage, coach, support, and elevate a group of Team Leads and oversee the GEC’s day to day operations. Additionally, you lead and contribute to departmental projects that support our strategic initiatives. You contribute to our exceptional guest experience through coaching and mentoring our team leads and floor leads. .
a day in the life
You start off your morning with a few 1:1s with your Team Leads. You chat and catch up on each individuals' team - a team lead is having a hard time providing some coaching for an educator. No worries, you're there to support them and offer to sit in for that coaching conversation. During huddle, the team is updated on what's going on the floor. The floor is bumpin' as holiday season is approaching. You check in with the talent acquisition team to see what numbers are going to look like for the holidays since you'll have to coordinate where the teams will be sitting and how many more team leads/support roles you'll have to hire on in order to support business needs.
You facilitate a board of educators meeting to see what feedback the floor has in order to provide a great experience for the guests and also the educators themselves. It's important for your team to figure out what's not working at the moment and a way to fix it so that the GEC is running smoothly.
Role Responsibilities
  • Collaborates with workforce management team to ensure all hours of operation are adequately staffed
  • Collaborates with cross functional partners including ecommerce, store operations, etc. as needed
  • Leads their teams to achieve/exceed business objectives focused on providing outstanding guest experience
  • Provides feedback to GEC Educators and is present for disciplinary conversations as required
  • Assists the GEC Manager and Director with various projects and duties as required
  • Provides leadership to team leads, floor leads and other GEC staff
  • Assesses and manages Team Lead performance including performance improvement plans, development plans, and formal performance reviews
  • Responsible for setting clear goals for direct reports, monitoring their skills and performance, and providing coaching on an ongoing basis
  • Involved in the interview process of new GEC Educators and team leads
  • Involved in creating the tactical plan for the department that is aligned with company goals
  • Manages employee changes in our HRIS
  • Oversees intraday management of the floor by our floor leads and team leads
  • Supports with establishing performance and service level standards
  • Acts as business lead for various departmental projects
  • Supports ongoing team lead development through delegation of various tasks and responsibilities
  • Provides ongoing coaching, training, and feedback to GEC Team Leads
  • Tracks and monitors GEC budget for people related expenses (i.e. staff rewards, food, office supplies, etc.)
Qualifications
  • Ability to handle multiple and changing priorities
  • Ability to maintain composure during difficult or high-pressure situations
  • Post-secondary education required.
  • Highly motivated entrepreneur who takes calculated risks with a strong sense of initiative
  • Demonstrates sound judgement and strong decision-making abilities; can view issues and make decisions in a non-emotional manner
  • Thinks positively, proactively, and is a team player with excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • 3-5 years of progressive leadership experience in an operations-based environment
  • Strategic problem solver with an operational and creative mindset
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Demonstrated ability to coach and develop leaders with strong delegation skills
  • Business acumen with the ability to interpret reports
