The Position
Northeast Regional Mine Manager
Job Summary
JOB SUMMARY:
The Mine Engineering Manager will oversee management of the Quarry and Sampling Operations for the NYCO Mine and Suzorite mining operations and ensure that both are maintained in a safe and environmentally friendly manner to achieve production, cost, and quality goals Involvement in other exploratory activities in Northeastern North America as well.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Develops and implements short and long term mine plans, including equipment recommendation, selection and procurement to achieve production and cost goals.
  • Provide necessary inputs to the strategic planning and total facility budget process for both Operations
  • Ensures that local mine culture is in line with Imerys Mission Purpose and Value propositions
  • Operations representative for implementing and helping to develop strategic vision for the NYCO collection of mines and Suzorite.
  • Works with Mine Operations Manager to interpret long range plan to an effective short and long range mine planning system (LOMP)
  • Participate in the development and installation of capital projects, including both mining equipment and crude ore handling facilities.
  • Responsible for securing and managing vendor relationships for mining/washer equipment maintenance and repair, drilling and blasting services, and miscellaneous support materials. Meet with vendors/contractors as necessary to handle vendor issues.
  • Promote safety consciousness, good housekeeping and maintain a safe work environment. Direct departmental safety initiatives, as needed.
  • Responsible keeping a keen eye for mine safety of Imerys personal, contractors and other vendors
  • Assists and Develops as necessary departmental budgets and tracks actual vs budgetary goals.
  • Monitor and insure environmental compliance for the mining operations.
  • Assist as needed to trouble-shootmine and washer problems as they arise.
  • Leads effective change management initiatives as necessary.
  • Ensure Imerys best practices and protocols are being implemented and followed, leads and coaches others to build processes as needed.
  • Works with Boucherville Plant manager to ensure crude inventory is monitored and managed to appropriate levels
  • Responsible for counseling, hiring and terminating employees as needed ensuring an engaged and open culture.
  • Works with Mine Operations Manager, MRP team and Operations Support to transition surface mining to underground mining plan at NYCO
  • Leads campaign mining in Suzorite and coordinates contractors and other activities as needed
  • Maintaining ISO certification through procedures and audits, if applicable.
SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES:
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Lotus Notes, and IFS.
  • Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing with people from all levels of the organization, vendors and customers.
  • Good leadership, interpersonal, organizational skills with the ability to effectively supervise diverse work groups.
  • Technical knowledge of mining and mining equipment.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks effectively and to meet deadlines.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
  • 20% Travel as needed
  • Experience using Surpac or similar mine planning software
  • BS degree in Mine Engineering or Geological Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years Hard Rock Mining Experience; Underground Mining Experience, preferred
