This job posting will be used to conduct ongoing recruitment and will remain open until position has been filled.
Why does the job exist?
To perform initial, recertification surveys and complaint investigations of health facilities establishing, monitoring and enforcing quality standards to assure the safety and wellbeing of residents/patients/clients, and to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations. Perform lead surveyor duties and training.
How does it get done?
Determine whether healthcare is delivered appropriately and meets state and federal compliance standards.
Determine if patient's needs are met after observation of treatments (e.g., intravenous therapy, tube feedings, wound dressing changes) and observation of the care provided by a variety of treatment settings.
Determine the adequacy of staffing and to assess the delivery of care based on observations of nursing care in progress.
Who are the customers?
New Mexico residents are the primary customers.
Ideal Candidate
Experience working in Acute Care, Critical Access Hospitals, Home Health, Hospice, Ambulatory Surgical Centers, Dialysis Facilities, Rural Health Clinics.
Minimum Qualification
Must possess a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in New Mexico OR eligibility for such licensure in accordance with New Mexico requirements OR Eligibility for a temporary license issued for employment at a specific institution in New Mexico and three (3) years of experience as it pertains to the essential duties and responsibilities of the classification.
Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver's License. Must Possess and maintain a current Defensive driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification as a condition of continued employment.
Working Conditions
State of New Mexico employees may be impacted by the Public Health Order dated December 19, 2022, which requires facilities licensed or certified by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services ("CMS"), including all hospital types, long-term care facilities, nursing homes, hospice facilities and rehabilitation facilities, as well as assisted living facilities and adult day care settings, to adhere to all COVID-related requirements prescribed by CMS, including, but not limited to masking and staff vaccination.
Work is performed in an office and in acute and continuing care facilities with extensive computer and some phone usage. Some sitting, standing, walking, stooping, bending reaching and lifting up to twenty (20) pounds may be required. Extensive in-state travel with frequent overnight stays averaging one week at a time, is required. Occasional out-of state travel with the occasional overnight stay is required.
