Position Summary
The Communications Consultant, under the direct oversight of the VP of Communications & Thought Leadership, will coordinate and implement project-related strategic communication activities for Equal Measure. This position will be pivotal in contributing to the design, editing, and creation of project reports and communication channels both from an external and internal communications lens. The ideal candidate will be passionate about conducting their work through a lens of racial equity and will thrive on multi-dimensional, collaborative teams.

Position Qualifications
- Ability to manage varying deadlines, prioritize multiple time-sensitive assignments, and juggle simultaneous projects while working independently and taking initiative where assistance and support are needed.
- Knowledge of website content management systems (e.g., WordPress) and e-newsletter platforms (e.g., Mailchimp). Basic knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite as well as graphic design software and Infographic/data visualization applications. Knowledge of Adobe Illustrator is required.
- Minimum of four (4) years of experience in writing across different platforms (e.g., website, social media, news releases, etc.), managing a combination of social media content, web design, news releases, etc.
- Commitment to promoting the value and use of racially equitable policies and practices, intentionally applying a culturally relevant lens and practice to communications and marketing efforts.
- Strong knowledge of the social media environment; familiarity with different social media platforms (in particular Twitter and LinkedIn), and an understanding of how they complement Equal Measure’s communications strategy.
- Ability to work well in a matrixed team environment, and to provide and receive feedback in a productive way.
- Demonstrate deep alignment with Equal Measure’s values.
- Must be willing and able to work 9am-5pm ET and be open to traveling nationally.
- Bachelor’s degree in liberal arts, communications, marketing, or related field required. Master’s degree preferred.
- Strong writing skills, emphasizing clarity, conciseness, and adherence to in-house style, with strong copyediting, proofreading, and attention to detail skills.
- Experience working in a nonprofit or client services setting, preferred.
Position Duties & Responsibilities
- Collaborate with project teams and clients to communicate results through Equal Measure’s project deliverables and work over the course of client engagements.
- Prepare and manage work plan timelines and budgets, monitoring expenditures related to—among other things— branding, advertising, communications, printing, and external events (e.g., conferences and receptions).
- Work with clients and external stakeholders to coordinate the release and publication of external products, and support communications campaigns and promotional efforts.
- Interact directly with contractors, vendors, and other partners on various aspects of project delivery and strategic communications.
- Maintain a helicopter view of Equal Measure strategy, programs, and goals—proactively identifying opportunities to leverage, promote, and communicate them to others.
- Conduct and complete special projects as directed.
- Work with project staff to coordinate all stages of publication production, from drafting through graphic design and dissemination and other related publication production responsibilities.
- Ensure consistent adherence to approved branding.
- Provide timely, constructive editorial and design feedback and assistance to project staff on publications and products created for external dissemination (and for client reporting when appropriate), e.g., dashboards, reports, issue briefs, blogs, presentation decks, proposals, etc.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $58,540-$67,000
- This is a full-time, exempt, benefits-eligible position
