Measurement Sciences Sr. Technician – Beverage Lab

Overview

The Measurement Sciences Sr. Technician conducts analysis on PepsiCo beverage products sourced within North America (NA). In this role, the Measurement Sciences Sr. Technician will conduct chemical lab analyses to determine the levels of caffeine, sweeteners, and preservatives of PepsiCo beverages. In addition, this role will support the NA plant water troubleshooting program using IC and GCMS technology. Additional responsibilities may include assisting in the processing of samples, recording/ reporting data, and generating reports for business stakeholders. This position is located at our Plano Global R&D facility and is part of the Plano Measurement Sciences team.

Responsibilities

• Manage the installation, qualification, and validation of new methods on the UPLC instruments
• Document all data in appropriate online system and communicate results in an accurate/ timely manner
• Communicate and collaborate with external vendors to optimize and troubleshoot UPLC instruments
• Responsible for UPLC, IC, and GCMS troubleshooting, maintenance, & repair scheduling
• Maintain cross-train status on all beverage lab testing equipment as backup support
• Follow all appropriate safety procedures as well as other policies such as lab notebook procedures
• Prepare/ maintain chemical solutions, sample dilutions, and equipment as needed for analyses
• Maintain accurate records/ documentation and assure the reliability of measurement systems by using appropriate good lab practices
• Supports NA water troubleshooting through testing of plant water samples, manage data reporting, and maintenance of business relationships
• Maintains strong, trusted stakeholder relationships across NA beverage network
• Perform laboratory analyses following standard operating procedures using UPLC, IC, and GC-MS

Qualifications

• Good understanding of hazardous chemicals laboratory safety guidelines
• Ability to work as part of a team to deliver accurate analytical results to needed timelines
• Demonstrated ability to learn and share new techniques and adapt to new ways of working
• Familiar with understanding and following all GLP and lab safety procedures
• Attention to detail while conducting all testing and maintenance procedures
• Knowledgeable/ or able to upskill on multiple analytical techniques
• Ability to keep neat, orderly, and complete records
• Ability to prepare graphs and tables using appropriate computer software such as Microsoft Excel
• Associate degree or higher in Chemistry, Food Science, or related discipline with 1+ years’ experience in a laboratory environment
• Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal

• Familiar with laboratory quality management systems
• Bachelors’ degree or higher in Chemistry, Food Science, or related discipline with 2+ years’ lab experience
• Working knowledge of analytical testing equipment – UPLC, IC, GC-MS, HPLC, LC-MS, etc.
