We are seeking an experienced QC Lab Technician II to join our team and help ensure that our products meet defined specifications. As a QC Lab Tech, you will be responsible for performing testing on incoming materials and finished products, conducting line verification for the bottling line, and maintaining laboratory instrumentation and equipment. This role is responsible for working within an established framework of compliance and developing and implementing improvements to product quality and the quality system.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain inventory of QC Lab reagents and supplies.
- Analyze data to specifications and designate as accept/reject.
- Prepare standards and control materials and maintain documentation of preparation.
- Perform testing on incoming, in-process and finished goods for compliance with established quality specifications.
- Work with manufacturing, receiving and materials personnel to complete required QC testing, documentation, and status labeling in a timely manner.
- Perform back-up duties for incoming inspection as needed.
- May participate on extended core teams as a QC representative.
- Maintain 5S of QC lab and other areas used by Quality.
- Participate in continuous improvement activities (e.g. kaizen).
- Handle hazardous waste as appropriate.
- Additional responsibilities as assigned by Quality management.
- Ensure that equipment is cleaned and maintained according to work instructions.
- Collect and prepare water samples for bioburden testing to defined procedures for monitoring of RODI water system.
- Work with Product Support to inspect and test first article components and participate in validation studies as assigned.
- Assist with management of retention materials, laboratory equipment maintenance and repair, and other projects as directed.
- Assist with physical and analytical testing of product returns.
- Perform physical and analytical laboratory testing, including pH, density measurement, spectrophotometry, and gas chromatography. Summarize and report results.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- Related experience should be in current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), or medical device Quality Assurance role
- High School Diploma/GED plus 2 years related experience OR Associate’s degree in quality, science, or engineering related field plus 1 year related laboratory experience (equivalent manufacturing experience will be considered)
- Experience with pipetting sampling techniques, inspection standards, or use of analytical laboratory equipment
- Experience working in an FDA regulated environment (medical device or pharmaceutical industry)
Knowledge and Skills:
- Position requires occasional overtime as designated by Operations/Quality management. Overtime duties may be outside of direct area of responsibility.
- Must be able to work with hazardous chemicals and biohazardous materials in a safe manner.
- Excellent observation skills with a bias for “corrective action” and improve work environment processes and procedures
- Familiarity with SAP
- Excellent math skills and the proficiency with Excel for basic calculations and graphing
- Knowledge of basic validation, equipment calibration, equipment maintenance and change requirements
- Good communication skills (written and oral) and the ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment are essential.
- Proficiency with calibrating equipment and ability to follow equipment maintenance repair procedures
- Able to speak, read, and write English fluently as well as write technically and summarize information into data reports using Microsoft Word
- Demonstrated ability to make critical decisions regarding product quality or quality system compliance
- Excellent attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy and the ability to work independently and in team situations
- Effectively manage multiple responsibilities and complete tasks on schedule
- Schedule may need to flex based on business needs. Position may require nontraditional work weeks such as 4/10 hour days.
- Operation of various types of laboratory equipment.
