Legal Officer
Key Responsibilities of this Role:
- Provides legal advice to, and collaborate with internal teams, on diverse matters affecting day-to-day business operations of ESPRIT
- Review and draft a wide range of commercial contracts, including vendor agreements, service contracts, partnership agreements, employment contracts and data processing agreement, to protect the interests of ESPRIT
- Be responsible for handling a wide range of legal matters including general transactional matters, employment law, eCommerce, data privacy, litigation, and real estate matters for ESPRIT
- Serve as the main point of contact within the organization for staff members, regulators, and relevant public authorities on issues related to data protection, and provide expert advice on important data compliance requirements
- Devise training plans and training across all business units to staff members who are involved in data handling or processing provide data protection advice to staff members
- Draft new and amend existing internal data protection policies, guidelines, and procedures, in consultation with key stakeholders, to ensure that company’s data protection framework and data protection policies are in compliance with the applicable data protection law and codes of practice
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong attention to detail
- Three or more years of experience at a law firm or in-house
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and to manage sensitive and confidential information
- Part-time work is acceptable
- Expertise in US data protection laws and practices is a must. Knowledge and experience in EU data protection laws, such as GDPR, is preferred
- CIPP certification is a plus
- J.D. from a nationally accredited law school

Compensation Range: $125,000-$200,000. This is the pay range the Company believes it will pay for this position at the time of this posting. Consistent with applicable law, compensation will be determined based on the skills, qualifications, and experience of the applicant along with the requirements of the position, and the Company reserves the right to modify this pay range at any time.
