The Know Your Customer (KYC) Quality Control (QC) unit is a sub-unit within Apple Bank for Savings’ (the Bank) AFC Department. The KYC QC unit is a second line function that is responsible for conducting quality control reviews of the first line of defense execution of KYC/CIP/CDD responsibilities. The KYC Commercial Banking QC Senior Analyst is a member of the KYC QC unit and performs quality control reviews over the onboarding activities related to the Commercial Banking Division of Apple Bank.
Specifically, the KYC Commercial Banking QC Senior Analyst is responsible for ensuring that all new client onboarding documentation is complete, accurate, and in compliance with the Bank’s overall BSA/AML program and that systems have been completed accurately. This review will include KYC/CIP/CDD activities related to booking new loans, opening new accounts, while ensuring that all deadlines and regulatory obligations are being met. The role requires a detailed understanding of KYC/CIP/CDD for Commercial Lending, including Commercial Mortgages, Export Credit, Asset Based Lending, Subscription Finance and Equipment Finance and Leasing.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform other duties as directed by the Head of KYC QC unit.
- Maintain AFC’s KYC metrics as applicable for the Commercial Bank accounts and present the results to management.
- Ensure that account opening, and maintenance activities consistently adhere to requirements.
- Possess a deep understanding of the front to end customer due diligence process and demonstrate a deep knowledge of US regulatory requirements, as well as our customer due diligence standards.
- Ensure completed KYC profiles portrays an accurate and detailed description of the customer, geography and related parties (i.e. Beneficial Ownership and Control Persons).
- Leverage the metrics to present findings and identify training opportunities for the business.
- Have the ability to work independently and identify key risk issues within the QC review of the Commercial Banking division.
- Notify the business of findings and errors identified during the KYC quality control review process and ensure effective and ongoing communication regarding needed updates/remediation.
- The KYC Commercial Banking QC Senior Analyst will:
- Conduct Quality Control reviews, leveraging a comprehensive understanding of Commercial Lending products, of the initial KYC profile based on customer onboarding documentation obtained from the client, referral source, agent bank, independent research, or business colleagues.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Apply independent judgment in the identification and escalation of key BSA/AML/Sanctions risks.
- Participate in committee meetings, as necessary.
- Perform ad-hoc and project support, as required.
- Prepare detailed ad-hoc reports of finding as request by AFC leadership.
- Recommend improvements to process in areas of efficiency, control, and work product.
- Display a high level of professional aptitude and standards.

SKILLS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
The KYC Commercial Banking QC Senior Analyst should have:
- Bachelor’s degree and/or a professional certification required.
- 3+ years of experience in Banking, Legal or related work experience working with domestic and international complex deals in a commercial or institutional bank.
- Excellent communications skills (verbal + written).
- Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Strong analytical and research skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Deep understanding with subject matter expertise of OFAC, BSA/AML and FinCEN compliance requirements
