Citi Commercial Bank (CCB) forms part of the Institutional Clients Group (ICG) at Citi and provides global banking capabilities and services in nearly 40 countries and jurisdictions around the world to mid-sized, globally-oriented companies across all stages of their growth. The AML Compliance Commercial Banking Head reports to the Global AML Compliance Head for Client Risk and Banking, and is responsible for leading the teams that will identify, assess, and manage AML risks across the CCB Business globally. The role will maintain proactive relationships with first- and second-line teams that support the broader AML control framework. The successful candidate will collaborate with leaders across all lines of defense to promote effective end-to-end execution of Citi’s AML program and drive consistent application of AML policies and standards worldwide.
The role is global in nature, whereby teams of specialists in multiple regions apply appropriate AML risk management processes to the activities regionally.
Responsibilities:
- Provide oversight and guidance on assessment of complex issues, structure potential solutions and drive effective resolution with stakeholders
- Exhibit leadership behaviors that role model Citi’s Leadership Standards, including open, constructive communication, sharing of ideas and suggestions, active listening, pro-active participation and enhancing the overall engagement levels of all key stakeholders.
- Identify and participate in forums (internal and external) to stay current on emerging AML changes and issues; lead the assessment of their impact on the vision and program; and oversee the implementation of enhancements to address evolving financial crime threats.
- Participate in and manage or coordinate, as appropriate, various internal assurance processes, e.g., Enterprise wide and Horizontal Risk Assessments, Manager Controls Assessment, Compliance Assurance, Internal Audit.
- Develop, attract, and retain talent; recommend staffing levels required to carry out the unit’s role and responsibilities effectively while establishing and adhering to talent management processes and compensation and performance management programs.
- Participate in various business and compliance governance and oversight forums (e.g., Business Risk and Controls Committees) as required.
- Raise and lead complex or sensitive topics to achieve appropriate actions and outcomes
- Define and maintain AML product specific compliance standards.
- Advise on new business initiatives, new products, acquisitions, and client/transaction related escalations. Assess risks demonstrating consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients, and assets. Drive compliance with applicable regulatory and policy requirements. Apply sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalate, manage, and report control issues with transparency.
- Collaborate with, and provide credible challenge to the business, Operations, and other strategic partners for the maintenance, and where necessary design and implementation of additional product controls.
- Lead the regional compliance professionals who support the CCB Businesses in their respective regions.
- Interact with senior business leaders, Compliance Testing, Internal Audit and regulators.
- Drive or assist, as required, the development and administration of AML training relevant to these businesses.
Qualifications:
- Experience in managing regulatory exams and relationships with examiners and auditors
- Ability to work with regional and global partners, and influence and lead people across culture and senior level
- Extensive knowledge of AML regulations, risks, and appropriate controls
- 8-10+ years of managerial experience
- Extensive knowledge of appropriate regulatory requirements including local and US laws, international and industry standards
- Anti-Money Laundering (AML) certification
- 15+ years of relevant experience
- Demonstrated leadership and motivational skills
Education:
- Master’s degree and/or professional certification preferred
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required
