Junior Data Security Engineer - Hybrid

Job Location

The Junior Data Security Engineer will need to be a self-starter with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, flexibility, good judgment, and the ability to coordinate multiple, concurrent tasks in an effective manner. This individual will work with data governance team members to ensure that systems are functional, secure, and scalable. The systems and networks developed will be used to collect and process data and improve the customer’s security infrastructure. The Junior Data Security Engineer will support the design and development of cybersecurity tools and technology with a focus on data security, governance, and compliance.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Assists in continuously transforming customer organizations to increase control effectiveness.
• Responsible for assigned on-call duties on scheduled basis.
• Stays up to date on the latest security trends, vulnerabilities, privacy legislation, and news items and communicates findings with other team members.
• Recommends changes in security policies and practices in accordance with leading practice, current threats, and regulatory changes.
• Documents policies, procedures and standards based upon guidance from cybersecurity leadership.
• Performs periodic assessments of customer environments to ensure continued compliance.
• Attends and speaks to changes during change advisory boards.
• Provides consultative data security direction to customers in support of programs and projects as needed.
• Identifies, prioritizes, manages, and tracks data security risks, working with stake holders to establish remediation plans with milestones and target dates.
• Research vendor tools for control compliance and assists in implementation to increase control effectiveness.
• Assist in implementing DLP policies via MS Purview.
• Assists in customer and regulatory audits, governing corrective actions to closure.
• Provides tracking and reporting of policy violations where defined.
• Assists customers with deployment of data classification projects keeping alignment to industry best practice.
• Assists with customer data governance assessments.
• Other duties, as assigned.
• Contributes to changes and additions to enterprise architecture documentation.
• Provides server sizing recommendations for AWS, Azure, and a variety of on-prem architectures.

Required Certifications

• SC - 400 Microsoft Certified: Information Protection Administrator Associate

Basic Qualifications

• Experience with Active Directory (AD) and ADFS.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to share technical knowledge in business terms.
• Technical advisor with experience in cybersecurity.
• Familiarity with Azure services and components.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in dynamic business and IT environments.
• Ability to remain cooperative and professional in stressful situations.
• Extensive knowledge of server operations and maintenance.
• Knowledge and experience working in MS Purview.
• Knowledge of information security standards, principles, and practices required.
• Good Project Management and time management skills.
• Understanding of cloud terminology and tools to include installing, provisioning, and monitoring.
• Must understand and be knowledgeable regarding emerging security trends and marketplace solutions.

Physical Requirements:

Able to observe details at close range. Must be able to remain in a stationary position most of the time. Occasionally required to lift/push/carry items less than 25 pounds.

Expected Hours of Work:

This position is intended to be full-time, 40 hours/week.

Travel:

Minimal travel is expected for this position.
