This position is a hybrid work schedule with 3 days working in the office and two days working from home. It is Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm.

SouthernCarlson, Inc., a national distributor of Fastening, Industrial and Packaging supplies, is seeking a customer service and employee-oriented individual to manage a variety of responsibilities in our Transportation Dept.

The International Transportation Manager promotes customer satisfaction both internally and externally by coordinating third party product shipments inbound from our international partners.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

Manage day to day international transportation operations and staff. Provide excellent transportation support and service - both internal and external. Manage relationships, negotiations and business reviews with ocean freight carriers or forwarders. Maintain international freight quote tool for internal teams. Collaborate with other internal departments to provide guidance on best practices for imports, including alternative routings and solutions. Oversee booking assignments, rate selection, duty and tariff payments, forwarder invoicing, coding and payments. Due diligence to update and maintain item HTS codes. Manage/oversee ad-hoc tasks like setting up air freight, LCL shipments, occasional exports or escalated issues relating to logistics, customs, damage, or related transportation items. Point of contact for shipping issues between internal customers and external suppliers. Work with freight forwarders or carriers and internal finance or legal departments to complete and maintain proper international paperwork including Power of Attorney, Cargo insurance, Customs Bond.

Qualifications include:

• Demonstrated Computer skills in Word, Excel and web navigation
• Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management or relevant field is preferred
• Minimum of 2 years of management experience with a demonstrated ability to lead people
• Strong analytical and solid judgment skills with proven problem-solving capability
• Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities
• Acute attention to detail
• Good organization and planning skills
• Strong customer service orientation
• Positive attitude
• Minimum of 5 years in an International Logistics and Shipping role
• Strong communication skills (both verbal and written)
