Sutton Public Schools16 Putnam Hill RoadSutton, MA 01590TRANSPORTATION COORDINATOR FOR CENTRAL OFFICESutton Public Schools seeks a dynamic, organized, and knowledgeable individual to oversee and coordinate student transportation services for the school district. The Transportation Coordinator will oversee both contracted and district-owned vehicles, as well as in and out-of-district general and special education vehicles and routes. The ability to work collaboratively and effectively with drivers and monitors, as well as school district administrators, is essential.DUTIES: Manage transportation contracts with private vendors; coordinate the scheduling and routing of district and private vendor buses and vansRecruit and train bus drivers and bus monitors; review applications and schedule trainings of qualified candidates; support onboarding of drivers from initial paperwork through transition to Human Resources; assign district drivers to routes best suited to the overall transportation needs; establish district transportation guidelinesspecific protocol for driving, loading and unloading students, and care of busesReview bus routes and recommend changes Work with Principals to schedule drivers for field trips and with Athletic Director for athletic eventsInstruct bus drivers and monitors in safety procedures and special guidelines for unique studentsOversee care and maintenance of district vehicles; inspect assigned buses for cleanliness, condition of seats, mechanical and body condition, and vandalismComplete reports and keep records as required by state and local authorities and to satisfy need for accuracy in hourly payConduct daily review of drivers' performance and punctuality; provide oversight and supervision of all transportation employees; promptly and fairly investigate and address complaints Work closely with the Department of Public Works and the Business Manager for vehicle purchase, worthiness for student transport, and to ensure that all mechanical deficiencies noted by drivers are correctedPerforms related duties and responsibilities as requested by the Business Manager QUALIFICATIONS: Interpersonal skills for working with a wide variety of parents and personnelBusiness skills to manage a fleet of buses and coordinate with private carriers, according to contract arrangementsOrganization skills to track issues and problems and assure prompt resolutionFlexible hours necessary, some early morning and late afternoons requiredHold or willingness to obtain a CDL license to drive buses, e.g. in an emergencyPersonnel experience to work with drivers and monitorsBachelors Degree, or equivalent training and experience, preferred but not necessaryKnowledge of Federal and State transportation regulationsSALARY: $40,000 - $45,000 based on skills and experienceHOURS: Full-time, 12-month position with benefitsSTARTING DATE: July 1, 2023
