About the Position
First Transit seeks a motivated leader to lead efforts at our contract in Atlanta, GA, at MARTA. First Transit General Managers Initiate, develop, and maintain a successful contract relationship. See details below!
- Maintains company and contractual assets (vehicles, facilities, inventories, tools, and equipment).
- Provides leadership and guidance to develop location and company bench strength.
- Assists with negotiating operating budgets and contractual terms with customers.
- Handles all contractual services, including operations and administrative functions. The General Manager also provides oversight of the safety and training departments.
- Assures a safe working environment.
- Establishes training goals and requirements for all personnel.
- Provides and promotes effective communications with customers.
- Satisfies client, corporate, and contractual reporting requirements and needs.
- Develops action plans to ensure customer retention.
- Analyzes, prepares, and develops budgets and forecasts.
- Ensures compliance with all company procedures and policies.
- Ensures services are provided within budget and action plans developed and implemented to improve operational efficiencies.
- Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal laws and regulations (EPA, OSHA, DOT, ADA, and EEOC).
- Assesses resource needs, problems, and trends and plans accordingly.
Qualifications
- Successful track record in managing budgets and/or P&L responsibility.
- Ability to interface with agencies, directors, elected officials, operators, and all levels of hourly and salaried employees, including senior management.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Proven leadership experience. Minimum of 5 years of public transportation management experience, preferably with the Paratransit side of public transportation.
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required. Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to build and continuously motivate highly effective teams.
- Must be a self-starter able to obtain successful results without supervision.
- Subject to DOT drug testing. DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including marijuana, for any reason.
- Must have evidence of building solid relationships with supervisors, peers, and subordinates.
