About the Team:

GM Energy will inspire mass adoption of EVs through cross-functional strategies around vehicles, buying, charging, and ownership. The Advanced Technology team is supporting GM Energy to develop products including residential and commercial energy storage units that accelerate sustainability goals for our customers and our communities. We are growing fast and building a team that is customer-focused, creative, cross-functional, and ready to lead this dynamic and rapidly changing industry.
About the Role:
The Advanced Technology Strategist will be responsible for the strategy, development and execution of technology projects that will allow GM to maximize the value and resilience of its EV products and technologies. This role will support the objectives to:
  • Conduct competitive analysis and prioritize R&D and prototyping activity
  • Solidify GM Energy’s technology roadmap
  • Establish future technology partnership strategy
:
The Advanced Technology Strategist will:
  • Conduct competitive benchmarking
  • Evaluate emerging and existing technology partners highlighting fit, pros, cons, risks and opportunities for short, medium, and long run engagements
  • Support the evaluation and implementation of new innovative technologies into future product evolutions
  • Research GM Energy’s future battery chemistry strategy
  • Identify customer pain points and areas for disruption to inform future product strategy and to solidify GM’s right to win
  • Support the make vs. buy decision-making framework to consider, compare, and develop optimal short-term, medium-term, and long-term manufacturing strategy recommendations.
  • Work closely with manager to assess future technology strategic partnership opportunities
  • Provide recommendation with rationale on partnership structure
  • Proactively observe and analyze national and international markets and market developments, including standards, competitive offerings, and new business models.
  • Provide recommendations for future product offerings and direction for prototype / quick to market product pilot scope and prioritization
  • Collaborate across GM core teams to drive synergies and scale between EVs, energy products, Defense and e-Powered solutions where applicable
  • Evaluate cell chemistry, geometry, and module configurations; make recommendation and communicate strategy for GM Energy products
  • Work closely with GM’s business development and strategy teams to support M&A / venture assessments including due diligence, contract negotiations, and technology integrations
  • Contribute towards development of advanced technology product roadmap - vision, new product offerings and timelines
  • Understand, evaluate, and implement emerging energy and battery technology domains
  • Provide recommendations for future product offerings
  • New product incubation; architecture strategy and initial requirements analysis, specification definition, and identification of potential quality solutions

Skills and Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated high level of strategic agility and desire to work in a complex and evolving environment and an innovative mindset.
  • Develop new tools, implement processes, provide feedback, and collaborate to ensure continuous improvement of project execution and business operations.
  • Stay connected with focus groups and forums to stay at the forefront of technology advancements to keep the team abreast of the latest technological solutions.
  • Prioritizes customers to ensure satisfaction with a product, service, or solution.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced start-up technology environment.
  • Ability to lead multiple complex projects and assignments with a high degree of autonomy and accountability for results.
Preferred:
  • Experience in energy storage systems, battery chemistries, charging.
  • Electrical Engineering Degree
Remote: This position does not require employee to be on-site full-time to perform most effectively. The employee’s role enables them to work off-site on a permanent basis.
Compensation:
  • Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
  • Actual base compensation within the identified range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
  • The expected base compensation for this role is $100,530 – 160,587 USD Annually
