Seeking a highly skilled and experienced Project Manager with a background in Genetics to join our team. As a Project Manager, you will be responsible for supporting the Data, AI & Genome Sciences (DAGS) group at Merck Research Labs. Your role will involve coordinating and managing preclinical sequencing experiments and genomic data processing. This remote position requires strong project management expertise, familiarity with Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) and genomic data, and the ability to collaborate effectively in a highly matrixed environment. Responsibilities:
Coordinate and support preclinical sequencing experiments and genomic data processing.
Collaborate with scientific teams, vendors, and data analysts to ensure smooth workflows and timely data transfers.
Maintain tracking dashboards for project visibility and accessibility.
Communicate effectively with stakeholders to facilitate issue resolution and maintain strong working relationships.
Track project information, timelines, and issues, and provide regular updates to project teams.
Contribute to process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency.
Utilize templates and scripts to streamline routine operations.
Support finance systems for outsourcing activities, including generating purchase orders and tracking invoices.
Qualifications:
BA/BS in a scientific or technological field with 8+ years of relevant experience, or MS/PhD with 6+ years of relevant experience.
Strong project management experience within the scientific realm.
Familiarity with Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) and genomic data.
Advanced Excel skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work in a collaborative and matrixed environment.
Notes:
This is a remote position with a duration of 12 months, with a possibility of extension.
Candidates from the East Coast are preferred due to working in the EST shift.
Preferred qualifications include hands-on lab experience, drug discovery experience, Python coding experience, AutoHotKey experience, PMP certification, and computational data science experience.
