Assists the Genetic Counselors and office staff within the Precision Health Program with daily tasks and projects. Such responsibilities may include responding to patient inquiries, collecting and reporting clinic data, monitoring lab portals, disclosing genetic test results, updating letter templates, and contributing to clinic processes.
Monitor genetic testing orders to ensure proper sample accessioning, complete documentation for authorizations, and streamlined result communication to patients and providers.
Administrative tasks including contacting outside providers for records, recording family history via electronic pedigree tool and by hand for patients seen in multiple genetic counseling specialty clinics, managing consent forms.
Answer patient phone calls with inquiries about precision health clinics, scheduling, and testing coordination.
Disclose genetic test results to patients via the phone and draft test result letters.
Collect data for clinic volumes, referral sources, results, etc.
Other Related Duties : Projects such as updating letter templates, creating presentations to share data and results, and perform other related duties as requested or required.
Adheres to established standards in personal appearance and conduct.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
EDUCATION: High School Diplomate required; Bachelor’s degree preferred
YEARS OF EXPERIENCE: None required.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
Ability to work both independently and within a team, completion of department orientation and training, ability to follow written and verbal instruction effectively; willingness to work under supervision; ability to communicate with patients and discuss basic genetic counseling concepts; empathy and sensitivity when conveying information; ability to use Microsoft software (specifically Excel and PowerPoint). Experience with Epic preferred.
