ABM Technical Solutions is looking for a General Manager, Area Operations to lead our Building & Energy Solutions business. The mission is to continue to develop the existing culture, see the “big picture” on how sales and operations work together and create a winning & profitable operation that successfully serves ABM’s customers through our engaged people every day. The selected candidate, reporting directly to the Senior Vice President will be responsible for the branch sales, operations, and profit/loss.

ABM Technical Solutions is looking for a General Manager, Area Operations to lead our Building & Energy Solutions business. The mission is to continue to develop the existing culture, see the “big picture” on how sales and operations work together and create a winning & profitable operation that successfully serves ABM’s customers through our engaged people every day. The selected candidate, reporting directly to the Senior Vice President will be responsible for the branch sales, operations, and profit/loss.
Essential Duties
- Mentor and build sales team in the development and implementation of effective sales strategies for maintenance and project sales.
- Monitor A/P and A/R to assure optimum cash flow.
- Promote professionalism and pride in order to attract high caliber talent.
- Increase existing customer base and maintenance coverage through targeted and effective solution sales techniques.
- Assign goals and regularly measure results for sales and operations.
- Establish and execute strategic and tactical plans to grow the Mechanical HVAC core project and service business.
- Own the sales plan, and actively work to achieve that plan through sales leadership and direct selling.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Management of branch profit & loss (P&L)
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with customers, vendors, and other outside agents.
- Direct purchasing decisions and activities as necessary.
- Job duties may be modified at any time.
- MBA and/or other advanced and education is desirable.
- Minimum five (5) years of experience managing people, ideally managing managers of people.
- Bachelor's Degree strongly preferred, High School Diploma or GED is required.
- Previous experience and knowledge of HVAC designs, HVAC maintenance & project sales, applications, and energy saving solutions a big plus.
- Experience managing multi-million-dollar budgets/P&L strongly preferred.
- Strong leadership and hands-on team building qualities.
- Minimum five (5) years in the HVAC Service/Sales/Solutions field.
- Minimum of two (2) years of critical P&L focus with strategic financial planning and analysis skills to drive growth is required.
- Experience successfully using a conceptual sales cycle selling financially justified solutions.
