Job Description

Boulder Opera is hiring a part time Marketing manager to help us market our presence in the Boulder area. The ideal candidate will be: organized, a problem-solver, eager to learn and develop skills, and largely self-directed once training is complete. You’ll work closely with our Executive Director, either in person or remotely via Google Hangout, approximately 10-15 hours per week.


Duties include:


  • Manage the setup and maintenance of the Box Office both online and at performances, working to increase ticket sales and communicate effectively with patrons regarding ticket availability, pricing, and policies.
  • Work with the Executive Director to develop, monitor, and evaluate marketing campaigns for BOC as an organization.
  • Submit dates for performances to local event calendars.
  • Plan and place advertisements in all available media, in accordance with the marketing budget.
  • Provide marketing support for all activities, including fundraising events and educational programs.
  • Work closely with the Director of Development to ensure that corporate sponsors, foundations, and patrons receive appropriate recognition in all printed and other media.
  • Develop and carry out a social media strategy in collaboration with the Production Manager.
  • Develop strategies to maintain the company's community presence throughout the year.
  • Manage patron communications via our MailChimp account; create and send promotional emails to our subscribers in the weeks leading up to each performance.
  • Devise a PR strategy for BOC and pursue regular exposure in the media.
  • Write and distribute Press Releases.
  • Develop individual marketing plans for the current season and for each individual production, working to strengthen the subscriber base and maximize ticket revenue.

*Any other such duties as may be determined by the Executive Director.
