Job Description

Welling Young, LLC has partnered with an independent retail agency in Dallas seeking an Employee Benefits Consultant.

This is a client-facing position and with competencies and advanced knowledge of benefit programs, underwriting principles, medical funding arrangements, and plan design options.


Responsibilities

  • Ability to perform complex self-funded marketing and analysis, such as PBM review, network repricing analysis, claims projections, plan design change modeling.
  • Prepare proposals including contribution modeling, claims projections, and plan modeling; ability to make recommendations to client.
  • Work with carriers for renewal review, negotiations, and plan alternatives.
  • Remain current on vendor/carrier plans and programs, industry trends and legislation
  • Consistently follow client service workflows and appropriately engage internal resources and escalate as necessary.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships by collaborating with coworkers and insurance carriers.
  • Evaluate plan utilization from carrier reports and industry data; track and evaluate year over year changes; summarize results in easy-to-understand client presentation.
  • Review spreadsheets and compare carrier proposals, ensuring accuracy and alignment with client objectives.
  • Market all lines of coverages – medical (ACA small group, fully insured, level-funded, self-funded); dental, vision, worksite, and ancillary coverages; prepare RFP, address carrier questions, ensure requested parameters are met.
  • Ensure agency management system is updated accurately and timely with renewal decisions.
  • Assist with ACA requirements such as determining affordability rate, PCORI fee responsibility, and modeling A and B potential penalties


Qualifications

  • Advanced knowledge of PowerPoint and Excel, experienced with formulas, pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.; charts/graphs.
  • Advanced knowledge of medical, dental, vision and ancillary coverages.
  • Ideal candidate will be detail oriented and organized, have a sense of urgency, be a problem solver and good communicator; team player and able to build rapport, confidence, and trust externally and internally.
  • 5 – 8 years in a similar role, Preferred prior broker experience.
