Job Summary
The Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DIB) Administrator leads Purdue Extension’s diversity, inclusion, and belonging efforts. This position partners with the Extension DIB Committee members, Purdue Extension staff development coordinator, and Office of Multicultural Programs (OMP) to assess the professional development needs of Extension faculty and staff on/off campus and lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive professional development program based on inclusive excellence. The administrator will be expected to lead Purdue Extension’s Civil Rights measurement, evaluation, and reporting efforts, as well as lead Extension’s DIB Committee, participate in the College of Agriculture’s DATA Committee, participate in Extension’s national diversity priority action team, and deliver a variety of DIB workshops at the state and national levels. In addition, this position works closely with the Director and Associate Director of Extension and the Extension Leadership Team.
Responsibilities:
- Applies instructional design theories, methodologies, best practices, and interactive teaching methods in educational settings
- Stay abreast of contemporary DIB issues through professional development, networks, reading, and skill development in partnership with DIB professionals in the University, state, and nation
- Provide input in establishing goals, creates assessment methods, conduct educational needs assessment, and use results to recommend new or updated processes or standards impacting strategic plans, including – by not limited to – faculty/staff recruitment, retention, and promotion
- Identifies and disseminates DIB information to the Purdue Extension staff members continuously to help foster an environment of inclusive excellence
- Influence and build working relationships among a diverse workforce
- Work with Extension’s staff development coordinator to incorporate inclusive excellence into Extension’s onboarding, mentoring, professional, and leadership development programs, including Professional Development Conference, Program Area updates, new educator training, etc.
What We're Looking For:
- Must have reliable transportation and the ability to travel
- Ability to conduct educational needs assessment and evaluation
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Knowledge and skills with relevant business software systems, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and familiarity with web-based design tools
- Commitment to expanding and fostering diversity and inclusion and have demonstrated the ability to interact effectively with diverse stakeholders and staff
- Strong interpersonal skills, including excellent verbal and written communication and the ability to facilitate
- Ability to apply instructional design theories, methodologies, and best practices, including interactive teaching methods
- Demonstrated multicultural organizational design/change and problem-solving skills
- Quick to adopt new technology and systems that improve efficiency
- Presentation skills in developing and delivering training to adult learners
- Ability to influence and build working relationships among a diverse workforce at all levels
- 6 years of experience with demonstrated success in diversity, equity, and inclusion work
