As part of the Culture and Talent Development team, you will contribute to cultivating an engaging culture, building high performing teams, and delivering tools to help all employees grow and succeed. The team is directly responsible for Learning and Development, Employee Engagement and Diversity, Equity & Inclusion.

About the Role:
As the Director, Talent Management & Engagment, you will oversee all talent management initiatives including performance feedback, talent reviews, succession planning, career pathing, and internal talent mobility. You will partner with the broader Human Resources (HR) organization and the business to design and implement programs and solutions aimed at the delivery of talent development, readiness, and leadership development in alignment with our growth strategy. You will identify the critical leadership and professional development priorities needed for Confluent to successfully execute it’s short- and long-term business objectives. This role serves as a critical enabler to the company's ongoing transformation and growth strategy.
Reporting to the VP of Culture & Talent Development, the Director will also plan and execute our Annual Employee Survey and action planning. The candidate will have experience working in a dynamic and fast paced environment, as well as previous experience operating in and successfully implementing talent management strategies. The Director should demonstrate the ability to build relationships with all levels of the organization, as required.

What You Will Do:
  • Plan, implement and measure employee engagement and follow up efforts and action plans designed to drive improvements.
  • Contribute to the design, development, and implementation of talent development solutions and enterprise talent development initiatives. Consult and collaborate with the appropriate stakeholders to create scalable talent solutions and/or team interventions.
  • Drive development practices to accelerate successor readiness and retention including working on individual development plans and career planning.
  • Lead strategic programs by collaborating with leaders and People Business Partners (PBPs) to assess organization design, workflow, tools, roles, and behaviors.
  • Design and drive a consistent and comprehensive global talent assessment approach and framework for our businesses and HR teams to leverage and assess talent and define talent pipelines.
  • Partner with PBPs to assess needs and manage implementation of talent programs and tools to accomplish specific business objectives. Build the capability of our HR teams and leaders to assess talent and future talent needs.
  • Design and implement organizational development initiatives that focus on employee onboarding/offboarding, performance management, succession planning, career pathing, and employee engagement.
  • Build a leadership pipeline and global talent review process, preparing the organization for growth and improving the depth and breadth of internal talent and skills across the company to increase the number of “ready now” candidates.

  • Maintain transparent communication by appropriately communicating organization information to the team.
  • Motivate and lead a high-performance team by attracting, developing, engaging, and retaining team members.
  • Drive the performance management and compensation processes by communicating job expectations, monitoring and evaluating performance, providing feedback, and facilitating employee development per the company’s policies.
  • Lead and motivate individuals and teams to create a workplace culture consistent with the company mission, vision, and values.

What You Will Bring:
  • Ability to work effectively with senior leaders, the HR community and peers to produce results in fast paced environments
  • Track record of using data and insights to drive positive change
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities with proven capacity to foster an environment of positive employee engagement and trust
  • Strong organizational skills and evidence of self-motivation, as well as demonstrated ability to plan, schedule and work both independently and in teams
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources, Organizational Development, Business or related field
  • Strong business acumen and influencing skills with a strategic mindset that result in strong leadership commitment and actions
  • Experience with design and implementation of enterprise-wide talent programs
  • 10+ years progressive experience in Organizational Development, Change Management, or Talent Management

This position has an annual estimated salary of $183,800 - $216,000 USD, an annual bonus, and a competitive equity package. The actual pay may vary depending on your skills, qualifications, experience, and work location. In addition, Confluent offers a wide range of employee benefits. .
