Engagement Marketing Director
Compassion & Choices is on the lookout for an enthusiastic Engagement Marketing Director to join our team and play a pivotal role in advancing our advocacy, medical outreach, and educational initiatives across the United States.
Position Overview
As the Engagement Marketing Director, you will lead the development and implementation of an integrated marketing strategy encompassing both digital and traditional communication efforts. Your primary mission will be to promote and enhance Compassion & Choices' brand while supporting the invaluable work of our engagement team. This work involves elevating our organization's profile, educating healthcare professionals (including doctors, nurses, pharmacists, social workers, and death doulas), and reaching out to diverse populations, including African Americans, Latinos, Asian American Pacific Islanders, Native Hawaiians, Faith Leaders, and individuals with disabilities.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate closely with the engagement program team to achieve their goals effectively.
Expand our presence and relevance within target communities.
Foster key collaborations and partnerships to further our mission.
Grow our supporter base and increase brand visibility.
Elevate our brand, profile, and that of our CEO and key staff.
Contribute to revenue generation efforts.
This Role Includes
Acting as the primary communications lead for the engagement team, creating and executing integrated communications and marketing plans in collaboration with program and digital teams.
Directly overseeing the development of messaging, content, and materials, including videos, brochures, advertisements, and more.
Supervising a team of 2 to 3 individuals and coordinating larger projects with 10+ team members.
Crafting and implementing earned media strategies for designated programs, including pitching media outlets.
Developing content for both traditional and digital platforms, identifying communication opportunities and visibility events.
Collaborating with the engagement team to distribute Compassion & Choices' products, tools, and materials through partner communication channels.
Enhancing our online visibility to position us as the leading end-of-life choices advocacy organization.
Creating and implementing standard operating procedures for high-quality messaging and collateral development.
Acting as a content strategist to ensure marketing content resonates with the intended audience.
Evaluating print initiatives for optimal reach, efficiency, and program success.
Ensuring all materials align with organizational messaging, editorial guidelines, and cultural competence.
Collaborating with volunteer-based governance groups on marketing and communications efforts.
Writing and editing senior-level marketing and communications content for alignment with our mission and cultural competence.
Providing training and coaching to staff and volunteers in approved language and media communication skills.
Supporting various Compassion & Choices efforts as requested.
Requirements
8 to 10 years of experience managing national marketing, communications, or public relations programs, preferably in advocacy, public health, or a related field.
Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree in related fields such as marketing, journalism, or communications preferred.
Expertise in reaching and communicating with diverse audiences, including Latinos, African Americans, and the clinical community. Spanish fluency is highly desirable.
Proven expertise in developing media strategies, creating media stories, and building integrated campaigns.
Experience with digital and social media, including campaign development and web design.
Familiarity with communications research and planning, content audits, focus groups, and communications strategy development.
Nonprofit experience is highly desirable.
Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to make quick decisions, work under pressure, and manage time effectively.
