LHH Recruitment Solutions is partnering with a non-profit organization in Kansas City, MO, and assisting them search for a new Director of Talent Acquisition. This position will sit on the organization’s senior leadership team and will manage a team of 1-2 recruitment professionals. The Director of Talent Acquisition is responsible for all aspects of the organization’s talent acquisition/recruitment functions, including: full cycle recruitment, strategic planning, candidate selection and hiring, talent team leadership, external communications strategy, onboarding and training. This is a full-time, exempt position, and the schedule will be on-site in Kansas City, MO.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Planning and Leadership
- Confirm quarterly data to assess priority and update approach
- Oversee and execute implementation of current talent strategic priority
- Define strategic direction for the 5 year strategic priority of talent cultivation
- Plan ‘pilots’ to assess effectiveness of new pipelines/programs
- Annually, step back on progress and redefine following year of priority
- Collect input from leaders, staff, and stakeholders
- Determine and set 5-year goal and year-by-year priorities
- Identify and define additional hiring pipelines to explore and engage
- Engage outside support and research as needed to develop best practices and update hiring metrics/strategy overall
- Provide input and execute initiatives - as needed - on additional workstreams/strategic priorities to support staff retention, relationships, and satisfaction
- Delegate ownership where needed from organization’s leaders
- Execute pilots and round up findings to determine what to transfer/update about process
- Collaborate with senior leaders to annually define and drive on priorities to achieve strategic vision
Talent Team Leadership, Development and Evaluation
- Model best recruiting and hiring practices and coach talent team on best practices and interventions to cultivate and hire staff
- Defining strategy and overseeing execution of talent processes including, but not necessarily limited to: Recruitment Inputs (events, fairs, virtual, visits, etc.); Cultivation of candidate prior to interview processes; Planning and facilitating interview processes that result in strong hires; Onboarding of new staff members
- Build and maintain relationships with mission-aligned organizations and individuals with the goal of attracting top talent to the organization
- Manage and Develop Talent Recruiter(s) through: Regular hiring and cultivation observation and feedback; Departmental strategy development; Weekly progress monitoring on hiring goals; Meeting facilitation; Comprehensive and evolving professional development programming
Candidate Selection and Hiring
- Maintain clear, timely, and inspirational communication with candidates pre and post interview day that leads to eventual acceptance of offer
- Work with leadership to identify hiring needs and develop candidate targets
- Focus on specific cultivation efforts that allow the school to racially diversify its leadership team
- Engage in cultivation efforts that allow the organization to source, cultivate and connect with top talent
Development and Implementation of External Communications Strategy
- Ensure implementation of strategy through external publicity, relationship-building and internal culture-building
- Defining strategy for communications (internet, word of mouth, community events, etc.) to achieve that vision
- Define the vision and outcomes of the strategy - specifically with regard to recruitment and retention
- Oversee and progress monitor effectiveness and impact of strategy
Management and Leadership
- Coordinate strategy for and oversee implementation of community- and prospective-staff facing activities and communication
- Oversee communication between the Talent team and leaders to implement strong hiring practices, decision making processes, and collaboration
- Meet regularly with team leaders to assess the overall health of teams, identify trends in team needs, and propose solutions for the evolving needs of the team
- Serve as a key member of the organization’s Leadership Team, representing the organization to a variety of audiences and supporting all necessary functions for management and success
- Adhere to the policies, standards, and school-wide responsibilities described in the “Personnel Policies Handbook”
- Work with leadership to identify additional coaching and training that will allow leaders to successfully support and retain strong teams
- Model the organization’s PREP (Perseverance, Results, Empathy, Passion) values and set the standard for professional behavior
- Embody and advocate the mission, vision, and strategic direction of the organization
QUALIFICATIONS
- Ability to maintain a calm, professional demeanor in the face of competing demands and external pressures
- Ability to take feedback well and implement changes immediately
- High comfort level with children and youth is required
- Commitment and complete belief in the organization’s mission and organizational success
- Bachelor’s degree
- Prior experience working in schools, urban communities, non-profit, military, private sector, and/or a fast paced entrepreneurial environment is preferred
- Adept at collecting and analyzing data to suggest process improvements
- Must exhibit good business acumen and the ability to conduct interviews and evaluate technical capabilities of candidate
- Ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced environment
- Acute attention to detail coupled with the ability to think and act strategically
- Minimum of 5+ years of work experience and 3+ years of relevant talent experience required
- Ability to handle confidential data with discretion
- Demonstrated project/program management experience is necessary. Must possess experience successfully managing multiple projects simultaneously
- Demonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities
- Highly organized with the ability to meet tight deadlines despite interruptions
- Outstanding interpersonal skills and a team player
