Estimated Salary: $180,000 - $200,000

Job Summary:

The primary role of the Research Analyst will consist of conducting in-depth fundamental supply and demand analysis on agriculture commodities and developing quantitative valuation models across all sectors to support the investment team. Major Responsibilities/Activities:

• Analyze/ monitor commodity and sector news quickly and concisely and convey information to portfolio managers and investment teams.
• Present and defend investment recommendations on individual commodities to portfolio managers
• Interact regularly with other analysts and participate as a valued contributor within an environment where initiative, teamwork, excellent technical capabilities, and effective communication skills will be essential to one’s success
• Support firm’s commodities marketing and sales activities.
• Develop, interpret, and manage valuation models
• Travel to conferences/company meetings/ due diligence trips; develop relationships with third party research vendors and industry experts
• Perform fundamental supply and demand analysis on individual commodities

Minimum Requirements:

• A strong and persuasive communicator who conveys information clearly both in written and verbal form.
• Demonstrated experience and/or capabilities in applying research to a commodity listed futures strategy.
• A minimum of 5-7 years of experience in commodity research, preferably with experience covering agriculture commodities (grains/ oilseeds, softs, and livestock)
• Proven capabilities in market and commodity analyses that are reflected in the quality of the Analyst’s written and oral communication.
• A self-assured and disciplined approach to investments, without arrogance or ego.
• An enthusiastic and proactive individual—a self-starter who is motivated toward adding value and delivering superior results to the organization.
• A strong investment vision and personal conviction.
• Proven expertise in statistical analysis
• Exceptional qualitative and quantitative research skills
• Highest ethical and personal standards consistent with the firm’s top-flight institutional clientele.
• A high level of innate curiosity and receptivity to fresh approaches to investments.
• Undergraduate and applicable post-graduate (MBA) degrees from well-regarded institutions is preferred. A CFA certification is desirable but not required.
