Position Summary

Are you eager to be at the forefront of change?

Are you an empathetic communicator?

Do you enjoy co-creating high quality digital experiences for customers and employees?

Can you create a compelling vision that balances the best of what customers are asking for and the business needs?

Then you belong on a digital customer experience team, with a change mentality, embedded in an organization driving transformation for our software as a service customers, partners and colleagues.

As a Director of Product Management, Digital Customer Experience at Siemens Digital Industries Software, you will be the primary advocate for your digital product and celebrate each milestone hit on the roadmap – both the successes and failures.

You will lead the Customer Experience team of product managers, UX researchers and designers, and developers dedicated to building the best, friction-free digital buyer’s journey experiences for our and SaaS customers. In the Director of Product Management role, you’ll be responsible for creating strong, trusting relationships with stakeholders across marketing, sales, product segments, support and customer success, to understand the business needs and define the vision of the experience that exceeds customer expectations. You will partner with business analysts, UX researchers and designers, and developers to define features, capture user stories and then prioritize design and development plans.

This is the perfect role for you if you have best-in-class product management skills combined with experience in any of the following areas: websites, complex product portfolios, customer communities, customer advocacy programs, virtual events, physical events, eCommerce or online purchases, start-for-free programs or freemium programs or software trials, marketing demand generation campaigns, marketing automation, personalization, web component services, architectural patterns, omnichannel sales, and/or omnichannel customer contact.

A Director of Product Management is expected to:

Be the primary contact with stakeholders, starting by understanding business problems and needed outcomes and advocating for the customer

Define and champion a compelling product vision both the stakeholders and the UX and development teams can rally behind

Capture, document and prioritize the business requirements

Develop the product roadmap that informs a prioritized design and development plan

Set targets for success and constantly review analytics, the competitive landscape and evolving customer needs

Prioritize product features and categorize into key delivery milestones and releases

Be one side of a very strong product leadership triangle, with UX and development being the other two sides

Communicate – the good and the bad - with stakeholders at all points of the product lifecycle - from requirements collection to confirmation to UAT to release and iterations

Plan future features, releases and iterations, based on qualitative and quantitative data

A Director of Product Management has these skills:

Excellent listener and empathetic communicator

Comfortable with healthy tension to challenge status quo and inside-out thinking

Comfortable communicating news that stakeholders may not want to hear

Able to make hard priority decisions and back them up with reason, data and logic

Storyteller and sociable

Speaks design language with designers, development language with developers and business language with stakeholders

Natural leader of a team of peers that makes consistent progress

High emotional intelligence

Ability to influence, especially with senior-level stakeholders

Highly organized with complex projects and comfortable following a process – sets the example for the team norms and desired behaviors

Business savvy and knows how to think of digital experiences as a revenue driver and loyalty driver

A Director of Product Management has experience with:

Software users and the buyer’s journey and customer lifecycle taken by software customers

SaaS products

Working in website design, cloud application development and/or marketing execution

Being on a team with UX researchers, designers and technical developers

Collecting business requirements and developing visions, roadmaps and stakeholder maps

Human-centered design (certified through Luma Institute, a plus)

Large, matrixed, global organizations with complex product portfolios

Driving change inside organizations and/or with customers

Continuous delivery (through Agile, a plus)

Working across a wide variety of stakeholders with different product, cultural, geographic, language and prior experience biases

Building relationships with stakeholders at every organizational level, for example C-suite, VPs, directors, managers, individual contributors, co-ops and interns

Being flexible with roles and responsibilities when the team is in need

Working remotely with distributed teams

One or more of the following areas: websites, complex product portfolios, customer communities, customer advocacy programs, virtual events, physical events, eCommerce or online purchases, start-for-free programs or freemium programs or software trials, marketing demand generation campaigns, marketing automation, personalization, web component services, architectural patterns, omnichannel sales, and/or omnichannel customer contact.

Minimum Requirements:

10+ years of leadership experience leading product management teams

10+ years as a product manager and/or equivalent role

Expert in at least one project management framework that you know inside and out and would be ready to start implementing week 1 (example: Agile, Scrum, Kanban, Waterfall, etc.)

Advanced experience with at least one of the major product management software systems (example: JIRA, Asana, Trello, etc.)

Able to travel on average 1 week per quarter

Managed at least one digital product for entire product lifecycle – from requirements and vision, through roadmap and at least MVP launch

Have a degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Marketing (Bachelors or equivalent required; Masters preferred)
