Job Description
Leading the way on company-wide learning and development, including implementing best practices, new programs, and training curricula for employees at all levels. The Director of Learning & Development will focus on developing, implementing, and continually improving training initiatives that help our team members grow their skills, enhance their connectedness with our support services, and ensure compliance with their practices. Key areas of focus for this role include the ongoing development of our teams and the long-term usage and success of our training and development platform (including support for the adoption of this platform by existing and new practices).
Company Background:
Specialty1 Partners is a practice services organization committed to providing non-clinical, business support services to the nation's leading specialty dental practices. The company was founded in 2019 by four endodontists who wanted to provide unique and differentiated support to specialty dental practices. Originally focusing on support to endodontics practices (under the Endo1 brand), Specialty1 Partners quickly expanded its support to periodontics and oral surgery practices.
Since founding, Specialty1 Partners has grown rapidly to become one of the largest private owners of specialty dental practices in the US. Headquartered in Houston, TX, Specialty1 Partners is led by its founders and a management team that is focused on ongoing growth and delivery of best-in-class services across its network of practices. Specialty1 Partners currently has over 217 locations across 27 states.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and implement changes as needed to ensure all training initiatives are effective; communicate training results and program improvements to key stakeholders
  • Oversee training milestones for new affiliations with Specialty1, including a recurring program to introduce new partners and office managers to our Support Center in Houston, TX
  • Manage and administer the TalentStream LMS platform; scale the platform over time to support emerging business needs
  • Manage a monthly Lunch and Learn program for our administrative team members, to support ongoing awareness and connectedness to our Support Center services
  • Monitor and report on mandatory training completion by the practices, including compliance-related materials and company policies / procedures
  • Conduct comprehensive assessment of Specialty1 Partners learning system compared to targeted metrics applicable to company growth.
  • Identify team training needs at all levels of the organization (with a focus on our front-line doctors and staff) and create curricula to support business needs and employee growth; develop, scale, and deliver a diverse range of trainings to engage employees across the network
  • Review data and make actionable insights as business need changes.
  • Survey new acquisitions to assess gaps in knowledge and assign courses as needed to bring up to company standards.
  • Partner with marketing and operations team to provide educational content for network-wide events (for example, annual Partner Meeting, Office Manager meetings, and Support Staff meetings).
  • Establish best practices of learning and strategy development.
  • Drive our program of ongoing Continuing Education (CE) for practitioners across our three dental specialties (endodontics, periodontics, and oral surgery)
  • Collaborate with the Employee Relations team to create and address developmental training and interpersonal/relationship skills for employees. Work with managers for employees to assess gaps in performance and assign training to help correct identified areas.
Requirements:
  • Working knowledge of learning best practices, including expert knowledge of building and maintaining LMS platforms
  • 5-7 years designing and leading L&D programs, preferably in high growth environments
  • Highly analytical, with strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
  • Experience in implementation and oversight of an enterprise learning management system
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • High degree of trustworthiness and discretion when dealing with sensitive information
