Director Of Events And Member Services

Lakewood Yacht Club in Seabrook, TX is looking for a Director of Events and Member Services. This position is an integral part of the management team and is responsible for private and club events. Included in the responsibilities is maintaining a club wide calendar, capturing events from each area of the club: social, board, committee, regatta, youth sailing, maintenance, Ladies Association, etc. Meet with potential private event clients, plan and ensure that events are properly executed. Conduct weekly function sheet meetings to disseminate information to the food and beverage managers. The position oversees the front desk and game room employees and reports directly to the Assistant General Manager. Promote club events. Schedule, hire, train, and manage Front Desk and Game Room personnel. Help members and guests arrange banquets, luncheons, meetings, weddings, dances and other social events; obtains pertinent information needed for guest planning. Provide guest tours and offer suggestions in efforts to sell the merits of the club's facilities for the occasion being planned. Work with Chef to determine selling prices for catered events; oversee development of contracts. Suggest menu items and help guests plan menu in conjunction with the Executive Chef and/or other culinary personnel. Procure any necessary equipment, vendor, or decoration for events. Develop floor plans and seating arrangements. Book entertainment as needed for private events, club activities, and regattas. Organize ancillary services for events such as security, parking, cashiers, etc. Coordinate and attend food and beverage tastings for members and clients. Collect deposits and ensure payment policies are being observed leading up to an event. Inspect finished arrangements; Work closely with Food and Beverage Manager to oversee setup and service of events. Greet hosts their attendees. Check in members at club events. Support and participate in staff and committee meetings. Handle client complaints. Enforce club rules and policies. Produce timely event statements for clients following a private event. Coordinate billing of events. Conduct weekly function sheet meetings to share details on upcoming events. Maintain past and potential client files; schedules calls/visits to assess on-going needs of prospective clients for catering services. Assist in developing catering sales budgets; review financial reports and take corrective actions as appropriate. Stay informed on industry trends and competitive venues. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications -Stalwart positive attitude. -Must display an energetic and vivacious personality. -Must be prompt and self-motivated -Able to work at a rapid pace while maintaining attention to detail; ability to multi-task. -Must have leadership abilities. -Refined intrapersonal communication skills. -Full time flexible hours are required (able to work days, nights, weekends, holidays). -Must be able to stand/walk for 8 hours; bend, push, pull; lift 50 lbs. -Proficient in computer skills including POS systems, Word, Excel, and Publisher. -Professional appearance appropriate for a premier yacht club. -Must exhibit an excellent service attitude and be willing to go out of their way to accommodate the Members and exceed their expectations. -Must be considerate, patient and willing to help out fellow employees. -Must be able to tolerate pressure and work calmly and efficiently during busy times. -Possess the highest work ethics, personal morals and honesty beyond reproach. -Private club experience preferred. LYC is located in Seabrook, Texas, on the north shore of Clear Lake, adjacent to Galveston Bay. Our unique location allows unfettered access to Galveston Bay and the Gulf of Mexico.
