The Assistant Director of Events manages and oversees Event Operations for a unit or division of Georgia Tech. This position is responsible for the management of indoor and outdoor spaces and working with on and off campus entities, coordinate all logistics including Audio/visual, entertainment, security, custodial, parking, catering, rentals, licenses, permits and more. A key aspect of this position is to identify vendors and ensure approved contracts are in place. Input data to create event reports, develop and monitor budgets, and reconcile expenses. Act as day of event manager. Manage operations of multiple high-traffic and fast paced facilities. Responsible for setting employee goals, assessing employee performance, and providing feedback, and making pay recommendations. This position will interact on a regular basis with: Staff, Students, Faculty, Third Parties. This position typically will advise and counsel: Students, Faculty, Staff. This position will supervise: Assigned staff
Responsibilities
Job Duty 1 -
Manage teams that oversee small- and large-scale complex event service activities from pre-reservation process through event completion and assessment
Job Duty 2 -
Provide training and development for staff to ensure adequate skill development, cohesiveness, effective communication, and professionalism
Job Duty 3 -
Review and develop policies and procedures that aid in Event Services for the unit or division
Job Duty 4 -
Benchmark, evaluate, create or revise fees tied to facility space and equipment rentals
Job Duty 5 -
Create and implement policies and procedures for scheduling and events area and holds staff accountable for following and communicating those policies and procedures to clients and guests
Job Duty 6 -
Service students, faculty, staff, and community members desiring recreational space for drop-in recreation and for planning programs or special events
Job Duty 7 -
Review invoices, prepare accounting forms, and reconcile all event related expenses for settlement
Job Duty 8 -
Serve on internal and external department committees.
Job Duty 9 -
Work with Fire Marshal and Institute Police. Enforce policies and procedures necessary for the safe and orderly use of facility
Job Duty 10 -
Perform other related duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Other Required Qualifications
Certification, License or Permits: A valid Driver's License
Required Experience
Four to six years of job-related experience

The ability to lift, push or pull up to 50 pounds occasionally
