Purpose
The university seeks a strategic leader who can provide direction for all university events and work closely with the Office of the President to develop quality events that engage the multitude of constituents. This individual will work closely with Office of the President to provide strategic oversight, including conception, direction, staff coordination, production, for events ranging from ceremonial, fundraising, meetings, luncheons, dinners, and other official university events.
Responsibilities
  • Consult with university, college and school leadership and staff on events when requested.
  • Promote a positive and collaborative working environment focusing on customer service and quality work product.
  • Manage and oversee 15+ individuals on the university events team, which produce and execute ceremonial, fundraising, meetings, luncheons, dinners, and and other university events.
  • Attend and direct functions as needed locally and out of city/state.
  • Work closely with the Office of the President on the vision and execution of university events.
Required Qualifications
Candidates will be individuals who have experience in the following areas:
  • Working closely with executive leaders and in a complex work environment
  • Managing large scale events that compare to UT’s commencement celebration and Gone to Texas events as well as creating small to large dinner events.
  • Leading a diverse team of talented designers, producers, technicians, and others
  • Collaborate with contractors and vendors on event design and production
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Employment Eligibility:
Regular staff who have been employed in their current position for the last six continuous months are eligible for openings being recruited for through University-Wide or Open Recruiting, to include both promotional opportunities and lateral transfers. Retirement Plan Eligibility:
The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
