Director Of Development Jobs

This job requires expertise in technical team leadership, MEMS technology, project management, and client relations. The role involves a blend of leadership and technical duties and is best suited for someone who thrives on intellectual variety, collaboration, and managing multiple responsibilities. This position reports to the COO.

Leadership duties include: leading and growing the technical team; mentoring technical staff in one-on-one meetings and group technical discussions; reviewing and approving proposals to clients; keeping projects on time and budget; managing resources; navigating and resolving challenges; representing the company at public events.

Technical duties include: applying MEMS expertise to our most complex projects; quality control of client deliverables; developing and executing commercialization plans for clients (NPI); foundry selection and transfer, supply chain creation; synthesizing technical, business and manufacturing expertise in order to advise C-level executives and their investors; developing proposals and work plans for high value or high complexity projects.

Required Skills

• Commercial industry experience of at least 10 years in MEMS design, development and process integration
• You must be able to work onsite at our Burlingame, CA office at least 3 days per week
• Self-directed and organized, with a can-do attitude, proven multi-tasker
• Excellent engineering fundamentals, with a Ph.D. degree in Engineering or Physics
• Excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills; English fluency
• You must already be authorized to work in the USA (US citizen, green card or valid visa) or be a Canadian or Mexican citizen eligible for TN visa, or a Chile or Singapore citizen (H1B1 visa), or Australia citizen (E3 visa). Our company uses E-Verify to validate documents.
• MEMS process integration expertise on a variety of MEMS device types
• Can tolerate ambiguity and a variable workload (which can range from 30-50 hours/week)
• Significant project management and technical team leadership experience
• Experience with technology transfer to foundry and volume production

Desired Skills (any of the following)

• MEMS package design and assembly
• Sensor readout, control and/or wireless communications circuit design expertise (board-level or ASIC)
• Piezoelectic MEMS design expertise (microphones, PMUTs, actuators, etc.)
• Optical MEMS design expertise (mirrors, gratings, Fabry-Perot, etc.)
