Director Of Community Development

The City of West Hollywood is seeking a Director of Community Development. The position leads the City’s mission to achieve community goals, strengthen community character, and serve residents, businesses, and stakeholders. The Director oversees Current & Historic Preservation Planning, Building & Safety, and Long Range Planning Divisions to accomplish these priorities with a cumulative budget of $9.8 million and a total of 32 full-time administrative and professional positions.

The successful candidate will be a confident, creative, and collaborative leader and problem solver who is personable and effective in working and communicating with the City Manager, City Council, staff teams, advisory bodies, commissions, community members, developers, and other interest groups and stakeholders. The ideal candidate is an individual who is politically savvy, emotionally intelligent, courageous, and strategic; personally engaged on high profile and significant projects; effective at managing, supervising, directing and mentoring staff, and works with a sense of urgency and responsiveness.
