Job Description
LMU seeks a visionary, collaborative leader for the position of Director of Student Leadership & Development. We are seeking an experienced, student-centered senior leader who is passionate about serving a diverse and talented student community. The Department of Student Leadership & Development has eight full-time employees, as well as graduate and undergraduate student employees. It is organized to support students and student groups in creating communities that contribute to their success at LMU. This includes encouraging involvement in campus life through student organizations, including sororities and fraternities, planning events and activities, and areas of self-governance through ASLMU and GSLMU, the undergraduate and graduate student government organizations. LMU currently supports over 200 registered student organizations, which are an integral part of creating a vibrant and engaging campus environment.

Position Specific Responsibilities/Accountabilities
1. Direct the development and delivery of leadership programs, student engagement opportunities, and campus events that support and facilitate wholistic student development and inclusive engagement in campus life. Realize the university’s commitment to anti-racism, diversity, equity, and inclusion in departmental offerings.
2. Responsible for student leadership and engagement programs that support registered student organizations, undergraduate and graduate student governments, sorority and fraternity life, leadership development, and campus-wide programming.
3. Recruit, develop, supervise, and assess a team of seven professional staff members. Directly supervise two associate directors and one senior administrative coordinator.
4. Directly responsible for the Ignatian Leadership Institute (ILI) program that provides education, development, and training to cultivate personal leadership in all students. The ILI is based on the Social Change Model of leadership development and Ignatian pedagogy and includes curricular (30+ one-unit, graded courses annually), co-curricular, and capstone experiences. Teach at least one course section annually as part of position responsibility.
5. Develop, institute, and annually update departmental and other student involvement and engagement policies that support student life, with particular attention to risk management and mitigation.
6. Administer divisional leadership recognition and awards programs, as well collaborate with Academic Affairs on the development and production of an annual university student academic, service, and leadership awards event.
7. Coordinate transitional programs and events for graduating students in collaboration with other divisional and university departments.
8. Collaborate and communicate with colleagues and departments within the Division of Student Affairs, as well as with university departments that support student life and engagement. These includes, but are not limited to: Event Services, Facilities Management, Public Safety, Enrollment Management, University Advancement, Marketing and Communications, and Athletics.
9. Perform on-going program evaluation and student outcomes assessment of departmental programs and initiatives. Prepare and distribute reports with supporting data to demonstrate program effectiveness and illustrate opportunities for further development.
10. Serve as the departmental budget administrator, which includes the development departmental program and student work budgets. Regularly monitor and reconcile all expenditures.
11. Support divisional and departmental advancement efforts.
12. Develop and implement strategies to promote and communicate student engagement opportunities, successes, and outcomes within and beyond the university community.
13. Serve as student conduct administrator or student affairs resource administrator as requested.
14. Serve on university and divisional committees as assigned by the Associate Vice President for Student Life or the Senior Vice President for Student Affairs. Represent the university within professional associations and organizations.

Requisite Qualifications
Typically a Master’s degree in education, higher education, college student personnel services, counseling, or equivalent experience is preferred. Incumbent will be expected to continue upgrading knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to keep abreast of regulation/policy changes.
Minimum 5 years experience with increasing levels of responsibility in managing campus activities, leadership programs, sororities and fraternities, student government, and student organizations in higher education or a closely related environment.
Demonstrated experience in program development and management; personnel policies and procedures; budget processes; system management; principles of recruiting, training and supervision of professionals and paraprofessionals; and student accountability practice; proposal writing; student clubs and organizations; marketing and social media.
Ability to effectively develop and implement student activities and programs; engage with student leaders of student organizations; and maintain effective collaborative relationships with students and colleagues.
Exemplary communication skills (both
written and oral). Experience with proposal writing.
Highly developed organizational and leadership skills.
Demonstrated computer competency.
