A high-growth, specialty pharmaceutical company in the San Francisco Bay Area is adding a Director of Alliance Management to their commercial organization. The company is small and growing, 2022 revenues are $2B+ with double digit YOY growth. They have multiple on market products, all are first-in-class or best-in-class. They also have a deep pipeline of 30+ candidates, with 4 products in clinical development and 2 in preclinical. The company is also pivoting from the rare disease space to unmet needs for genetic diseases with larger populations, so it is a great time to join this expanding organization.
The Opportunity
The Director of Alliance Management will lead the company’s strategic partnerships; the position reports into the corporate executive level. You will be the main point of contact for current and future alliance partners in the rare disease and gene therapy spaces. You will work closely with the Business Development team and company leadership to define and realize the objectives of the alliances. You will seek out and make recommendations about how to create value, build trust and proactively manage risks with partners. There is much to be defined, so you will build and scale process and best practices for the alliance management function.
You will present and defend recommendations to senior management on a routine basis. This position is high visibility as you will work closely with external partnership stakeholders and colleagues across the globe in R&D, clinical development, legal, finance and commercial.
The manager for this team has a track record of developing and promoting people. She’s on many “Best of” biotech leadership lists for her contributions in the pharma industry to date. The company’s rapidly expanding organization means there are significant opportunities for career development and advancement.
Qualifications
- Experience presenting and defending recommendations to senior leadership
- Excellent influencing skills working with internal and external stakeholders
- Strong understanding of the drug development/lifecycle/commercialization process. Open to all therapeutic areas, rare disease experience is a plus.
- 8+ years of pharmaceutical experience, including work in business development or alliance management
- Bachelor’s degree or better is required; MBA is a must. A scientific degree is a plus.
This position will be based in the San Francisco Bay area with a hybrid in-office/work from home setup. The company offers full relocation for this role.
The compensation package includes a large annual target bonus and a generous long term incentive package. The annual base salary range offered for this position at the start of employment is anticipated to be between $188,000 to $283,000 per year.
