Description

This role is responsible for designing, building, and utilizing data to maximize business impact through engineering, reporting, and analyses. Will work in close partnership with Director, Algorithms, and will be an essential partner with both technology and business teams to ensure raw data is transformed into meaningful and actionable business insights for decision making and strategic planning; helps to identify and resolve gaps in business processes.

Responsibilities

• Mentoring analyst(s), setting deadlines, and upholding data and analytics standards.
• Management
• Communicate and drive the data roadmap in conjunction with stakeholders.
• Work with business leaders to create standards and execute initiatives.
• Identify business opportunities and ensure stakeholder satisfaction.
• Design and monitor key performance metrics across departments.
• Translate business problems into analytical projects.
• Ingest external data to enrich reporting and analyses.
• Analysis
• Identify opportunities to harden and improve business processes with departments outside of the Data and Analytics department.
• Build actionable reporting used by departments across the company.
• Promote data democratization and self-service.
• Support and drive data-driven decision making across the organization.
• Data
• Apply data and statistics modeling to gain actionable business insights.
• Develop and maintain the company’s single source of truth - distill the complexity of 3rd party application data into intuitive and scalable reporting tables.
• Reporting
• Prepare and present results to all levels of management.

Requirements

Requirements

• 5+ years of management experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, or related field.
• 8+ years of experience in an analytical role

Functional Competencies

• Strong business acumen and able to articulate complex concepts in plain English.
• High proficiency in SQL and ETL tools.
• Analytical aptitude and action oriented; enjoys strategic thinking while also being tactical.
• Proficient building visualizations through reporting software, such as Tableau, Power BI, or similar.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office.
• Able to manage a team of Data Engineers and Data Analysts., both offshore and onshore.
• Some proficiency in other programming languages, such as VBA, Python, C#, etc.
• Strong desire for continuous learning & improvement
• Strives to understand and resolve the needs of business partners; acts as a steward of the company and a collaborative problems solver.
• Experience leveraging cloud technologies such as Azure, AWS, or GCP
• Must be able to thrive in a dynamic, fast paced environment, and deliver effective recommendations & results quickly.
• Strong written & verbal communication skills
• Ability to work cross-functionally, develop relationships, and motivate performance.
• Interested in pushing the boundaries of what is capable with data – ML/AI, MLOps, etc

• Some experience managing offshore resources.
• Experience with a startup or high-growth company, preferably within an airline.
