This position can be 100% remote.


Dynavax is a commercial-stage biopharmaceutical company developing and commercializing novel vaccines to help protect the world against infectious diseases. We operate with the highest level of quality, integrity and safety for the betterment of public health. Our proprietary CpG 1018 adjuvant powers our diversified infectious vaccine portfolio, which includes HEPLISAV-B®, our commercial product approved in the U.S. and the European Union, for prevention of hepatitis B virus in adults. We also supply CpG 1018 to research collaborations and partnerships globally. Currently, CpG 1018 is being used in development of COVID-19, plague, shingles, and Tdap vaccines.

The Director, Commercial Strategy and New Products Planning works closely with and reports to the Vice President of Commercial Strategy, interacts with our executive leadership team and will have exposure to our Board of Directors. The Director will leverage their capabilities and experience in team and stakeholder management, financial analysis, commercial assessments, strategic coordination, and product development to contribute to both the near- and long-term strategy and development of the company. This position will focus on facilitating strategic planning and thinking through the organization by working collaboratively with cross functional teams across the company. The Director is a strategic facilitator that plays an integral role in leveraging the power of internal teams through a proactive internal enterprise-wide cross functional approach. This position will interact with external collaborators and partners as required and create content to support clear communication of strategic initiatives within the organization and externally.


Responsibilities


  • Provide leadership, perform business analysis, and support execution of high-impact strategic projects and mission-critical initiatives.
  • Lead or participate in special projects as needed.
  • Partner with and support the Strategic Leadership Team (SLT) reporting on projects, taking minutes, preparing agendas, developing presentations, etc.
  • Define, design, and interpret key performance metrics to deliver insights and recommendations to leadership.
  • Collaborate across all of Dynavax with colleagues from research, clinical development, regulatory, medical, finance, business development, technical operations, commercial, and legal to support business development initiatives, participate in due diligences, and support negotiations as needed.
  • Work directly with leadership and team members in commercial, clinical, medical affairs, regulatory, technical operations and finance to provide strategic coordination of cross functional inputs into strategic business plans.
  • Support investor relations and board communications with content development and messaging based on underlying business plans for specific lines of business.
  • Up to 20% travel required
  • Maintain continuous improvement mindset, regularly keeping an eye toward opportunities for ongoing program improvements and enhancements.
  • Help develop and execute on commercial strategy and new products planning. Specific duties include generating/assembling documents, doing business related research, and developing and giving presentations.
  • Work with department leaders on critical strategic, organizational, and operational projects designed to increase corporate and commercial value.
  • Lead business planning process for all programs including new candidate assessments, development candidate product strategy, and new areas of growth.


Qualifications


  • Experience in Matrix Management, Change Advocate.
  • Ability to sit; stand; walk; reach with arms and hands; lift and move small objects; and use hands to keyboard and perform other office related tasks including repetitive movement of the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
  • A minimum of 7 years of commercial and/or corporate strategy experience in the field of Life Sciences with at least two years of vaccine experience.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Must be teamwork orientated and willing to collaborate with internal partners.
  • Strong computer literacy, with strong proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications – Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel.
  • Master’s degree (MBA, Public Health, or other related field of study) is preferred.
  • Strong proven strategic vision, business acumen and influencing skills to drive strategic and operational initiatives across the organization.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, presentation and influencing skills.
  • Anticipate a variety of needs and problems and proactively suggest approaches and solutions. Stay abreast of developing needs and requirements and act resourcefully.
  • Proven track record of financial/budget management experience.
  • Ability to analyze complex data and distill complex information into clear concise summaries and recommendations.
  • Proven ability to operate well in a fast-paced and ambiguous environment and can shape the role into a strong position of influence without direct authority.
  • Bachelor's degree in a science related field.
  • Key Competencies: Accountability, Business Acumen, Executional Effectiveness, Business Compliance.
  • Highly self-motivated, confident, high-energy, and bright individual.
  • Able to manage workload with limited guidance and support in prioritization; effective managing to expectations and ability to scope/prioritize work.
  • Strong collaboration, communication, and project management skills.
  • Full COVID-19 vaccination is required for this position.


Pay Range


  • The estimated salary range for this position is $196,000 to $234,000. Final pay determinations may depend on various factors, including, but not limited to experience level, education, geographical location, knowledge, skills, and abilities. The total compensation package for this position also includes other compensation elements such as stock equity awards and participation in our in the Company’s discretionary annual bonus program. Dynavax also offers a full range of health and welfare insurance benefits, 401(k) company match, and paid time off benefits, including 17 paid holidays in 2023.
