Deputy Vice President, Programs

Our client in the Non-Profit industry is seeking a Deputy Vice President to join their Programs Department in New York City. Reporting to the Vice President of Programs, the Deputy Vice President (DVP) is responsible for the existing portfolio of transitional housing programs, including those in development or start-up, and new / future programs as well. This position supervises two to three Assistant Vice Presidents (AVP’s); each with a sub-portfolio of programs, which is likely to grow as our department expands over the coming years. They will also oversee the Director, Facility Maintenance and Director of Operations to ensure consistent property management and daily operations across the portfolio. The DVP will work closely with the VP, Programs to develop and implement new programs, establish processes to streamline work and create efficiencies, and implement effective communication strategies that promote healthy agency culture and positive working relationships. The DVP is a senior manager in the department and the company. Providing leadership within the department and the larger organization, they will collaborate with other departments within the company, and represent the company to a broad array of external stakeholders. This Director level position is fully onsite in Brooklyn, NY. This candidate must have MSW or MPH.

• Compensation: $162,000 annual salary

Responsibilities:

• Oversee and support direct reports to ensure achievement of program performance measures, fiscal management including budget monitoring and development, thoughtful implementation of policies and procedures, adherence to contractual and regulatory guidelines, and employee performance management and staff development.
• Perform other related duties as assigned
• Oversee the development and start-up of new transitional housing sites, including site evaluation, proposal and budget development, contract registration, staffing, operating certificates and partner with other company departments to ensure each department’s needs are understood and met.
• Strengthen existing, and foster new, relationships with service partners, peer nonprofits, funders, and other government and community stakeholders through participation in meetings/taskforces/work groups and tours, providing technical assistance, and swift response to emergent on-the-ground issues etc.
• Work collaboratively with the Agency Medical Director and Assistant Vice President of Program Design and Innovation to ensure best practice service delivery across the department, implementation of new programming, and analysis of trends.
• Work with finance and quality assurance departments to manage government contract procurement processes (ex. Contract registration, renewal, amendments & modifications, etc.) ensuring that priorities are understood internally and externally and that action steps are developed, tracked, and achieved.

Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in social work, public health or other related field
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and similar software, including custom databases
• Advanced knowledge of funding sources for housing and social service programs
• Extensive experience managing multiple programs and/or building sites
• 10+ years’ experience in supportive housing, homelessness, mental health and other social services, policy or housing development as well as MSW or MPH
• Ability to manage multiple significant priorities, including complex and time sensitive projects
• Demonstrated ability to effectively interface with government agencies
• 10+ years’ experience in supervisory / leadership capacity
• Advanced knowledge of local, state, and federal housing and social service regulations
