Job Description
:

At Warner Music Group, we’re a global collective of music makers and music lovers, tech innovators and inspired entrepreneurs, game-changing creatives and passionate team members. Here, we know that each talent makes our collective bolder and brighter. We are guided by four core principles that underpin everything we do across all our diverse businesses:

  • Music is Everything: Music is our passion, and we can never get enough. Tastes, trends, and tech will change, but great artists and songwriters will always be our driving force.
  • Global Growth, Local Expertise: Music is a global language. Through communication and collaboration, our success can come from anywhere and translate everywhere.
  • Innovation and Insight: Pushing the boundaries requires the best information and the boldest imagination. We use both to create the future.
  • Empowered by People: Like the artists we serve and the music they make, our differences make us stronger. This is a place where every talent can belong and build a career.

We remain committed to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. We know it fosters a culture where you can truly belong, contribute, and grow. We encourage applications from people of any age, gender identity, sexual orientation, race, religion, ethnicity, disability, veteran status, and any other characteristic or identity.

Consider a career at WMG and get the best of both worlds – an innovative global music company that retains the creative spirit of a nimble independent.

Job Title: Vice President, Communications

A little bit about our team:

Rhino/Warner Global Catalog is the catalog division of Warner Music Group, responsible for Warner’s vast, eclectic roster of iconic artists, songs, albums, and labels. We work closely with our artists and the frontline labels under the Recorded Music division to create new catalog opportunities through marketing, A&R, content development, and engagement strategies that are deployed across the company to our catalog teams around the world.

Your role:

As the Vice President, Communications, you will develop and execute the overall publicity and radio promotion strategy for Warner Music Group artists and their song and album catalogs, as well as the overall division branding.

Here you’ll get to:

Media Relations

  • Develop global press strategy including generating worldwide press releases, setting announcement timing, identifying audio and video assets for global premieres, and coordinating international schedules for artist interviews and appearances
  • Execute and run publicity campaigns working closely with marketing, product development, art, business affairs, A&R, and international departments
  • Maintain global schedule of press release announcements and asset premieres
  • Hire and manage outside publicity firms, photographers, videographers, and bio writers as needed
  • Lead Rhino and Global Catalog Corporate Communications with Warner Music Group including deal, partnership, new hire, and promotion announcements as well as official label press statements and executive interviews
  • Pitch and secure a wide range of media coverage focused around new album releases, artists on tour, and artist milestones (anniversaries, awards, birthdays, etc.) with national and regional press (print and online), blogs, television, radio, and industry trades
  • Build and maintain positive relationships internally and externally with key media contacts, and build knowledge and expertise in dealing with media in all formats
  • Organize press conferences, satellite media tours, junkets, red carpet appearances, and photo and video shoots

Radio Promotion

  • Coordinate schedules for interviews, satellite radio tours, in-studio appearances, and performances in relation to new releases, tours, and other artist activity
  • Implement and handle national and local radio campaigns for all releases
  • Hire and manage outside radio promotion firms in execution of radio single, product giveaway, and other radio visibility campaigns
  • Supervise radio single campaigns for newly recorded and/or previously unreleased tracks and hire independent radio promoters to execute to appropriate formats
  • Organize both nationally syndicated and locally focused product giveaway campaigns in exchange for promotional consideration
  • Develop and lead all aspects of production and distribution of radio specials on projects as needed
  • Service full albums and singles to wide array of radio formats, based on content

About you:

  • Are familiar and interested in working across different genres of music
  • Have strategic agility in terms of foreseeing trends and problems before they occur
  • Ability to communicate effectively and maintain composure under stressful and complex situations between label staff, artist management, and artists
  • Stays up to date and maintains curiosity regarding digital media and consumer behavior trends
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Is a team player and able to lead media outreach on all designated projects large and small
  • Committed, hard-working and upbeat

We’d love it if you also had:

  • Background in building compelling presentations that relay key ideas
  • Experience managing budgets and third-party vendors
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Keynote, and other formats

About us:

As the home to 300 Elektra, Asylum, Atlantic, East West, FFRR, Fueled by Ramen, Nonesuch, Parlophone, Rhino, Roadrunner, Sire, Warner Records, Warner Classics, and several other of the world’s premier recording labels, Warner Music Group champions emerging artists and global superstars alike.
