We are building a team of pre-silicon design verification (DV) engineers in the Santa Clara, CA. area to help us guarantee first silicon success of our upcoming roadmap.

The Role
The architectural design verification group is looking for engineers to develop and debug core-level DV infrastructure to verify custom CPUs.
You'll be involved with test planning, writing functional models of the CPU, developing random test generators and implementing configurations and methodology. Test writing will be both in assembly language and C.

Design Verification is an integral part of the chip design process that ensures our customers get the absolute highest quality products that meet their functional and performance requirements. The DV Team at Ampere Computing comprises of stellar folks who have dedicated themselves to the art and fun of design verification. We are a tightly-knit, fast-paced team who work extremely closely with our design and architecture partners to ensure no bug is left behind.

What you'll do:

  • Define block level and full-chip level software environments for server-class microprocessor-based SoC
  • Design and debug core-level test bench infrastructure
  • Perform test planning and development
  • Responsible for assembly language test writing and generation, debug failures, evaluate coverage of design
  • Design CPU random test generators and/or C++ simulators

What you'll bring to the table:

  • Good understanding of verification methodology
  • System Verilog and UVM design methodology a plus (but not a deal killer)
  • Experience with complex software projects, including design verification methodology, random test generator development or instruction set simulator design. Expert deep dive debugging for CPU pipeline failures.
  • Deep understanding of CPU architectural concepts
  • Solid understanding of computer architecture.
  • 3+ years of CPU Verification expertise
  • Proven high proficiency with C++, Python and Assembly language a must!
  • Knowledge of ARM architecture or x86

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of experience or Master's degree with 3+ years of experience in electrical engineering, computer science, information technology or a related technical field

Pay and Benefits
Ampere offers a competitive total rewards package that includes base pay, bonus, stock, and comprehensive benefits. The full base pay range for this role is between $108,000 and $180,000, except in the San Francisco Bay Area where the range is between $116,000 and $194,000.
