Service First Mortgage is currently hiring for an experienced Compliance Manager.
The Compliance Manager actively participates in audits and oversees the day-to-day activities of and provides leadership for the Company compliance program and the Appraisal Desk. They will develop and monitor the department, ensuring that its growth and operation are in line with the company, investor, industry, and regulatory standards.
Duties include:

• Ensure appropriate controls are in place and oversee all compliance-related issues as determined by the Executive Director of Strategy.
• Direct and oversee the daily operation of the department, including establishing clear performance goals and duties for each employee within the department, motivating teamwork and positive change as appropriate, and managing personnel issues including staffing, training, and performance management.
• Under direction of the Executive Director of Strategy, respond to alleged violations of rules, regulations, policies, and procedures by evaluating or recommending the initiation of investigative procedures.
• Conduct pre-funding and post-closing audits on a day-to-day basis.
• Serve as a resource for compliance-related research and subject matter expertise.
• Help identify potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk.
• Monitor the performance of the compliance program and related activities on a continuing basis, taking steps to improve effectiveness as appropriate.
• Assist in the review of regulatory risks associated with new initiatives.
• Maintain the company compliance documents, as well as policies and procedures, current reports, forms, and instructional materials.

Appraisal Desk:

• Responsible for projects and other duties assigned by management.
• Maintain appraisal order Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
• Provide support to accounts payable for invoice questions/corrections.
• Identify and vet new Appraiser Partners for the internal approved appraiser panel.
• Responsibilities may include training others and being a subject matter expert.
• Provide support to Post Closing for investor requirements.
• Ensure compliance with the appraisal ordering guidelines and regulations for all Federal State and Government-Sponsored Enterprises (GSEs).
• Provide support to Underwriting for appraisal reviews, corrections, etc.
• Identify new Appraisal Management Company (AMC) partners for areas where the company does not maintain an approved appraiser panel.

Requirements

• Previous experience and education in FHA Roster Appraiser, FHA Direct Endorsement Underwriter or Appraisal Desk or AMC Manager.
• Strong knowledge of mortgage loan documents and the mortgage origination lifecycle and functions, along with a strong understanding of regulatory requirements.
• Exceptional understanding of current agency and underwriting guidelines.
• Minimum 3 years of management experience preferred
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years experience in Compliance and Quality Control in a mortgage lending environment
