Job Description
OUR VISION: THE WORLD. SUBSCRIBED.

Customers have changed. They’re looking for new ways to engage with businesses. Consumers today have a new set of expectations. They want outcomes, not ownership. Customization, not generalization. Constant improvement, not planned obsolescence.

In the old world (let’s call it the Product Economy) it was all about things. Acquiring new customers, shipping commodities, billing for one-time transactions. But in today’s new era, it’s all about relationships. More and more customers are becoming subscribers because subscription experiences built around services meet consumers’ needs better than static offerings or a single product.

Our vision is “The World Subscribed” where one day every company will be a part of the Subscription Economy® (a phrase coined by our CEO, Tien Tzuo, and author of the best-selling book Subscribed).

THE TEAM

The Strategy and Operations organization strives to make Zuora the best example of a modern-day subscription business and inspire those customers looking to transform and scale their operating model. Our vision-mission, “We power ZEOs to sync up and scale up to achieve success together,” means that we guide the corporate strategy by driving focus and cross-functional alignment, and ensuring that Zuora has the systems (people, process, tools) to empower every team and every ZEO to be successful. We also share our experiences achieving Zuora’s mission and strategy with customers, partners, and analysts

THE OPPORTUNITY

Zuora has grown from a small start-up to the subscription management software industry leader. Zuora is now poised for its next phase of growth and the Chief of Staff is critical to the success of the Chief Strategy & Operations Officer (CSOO).

The Chief of Staff to the CSOO runs the business operations of the Strategy + Operations organization. It acts as a multiplier for the office of the CSOO, driving focus on growth and operational excellence across Zuora. As an essential member of the CSOO leadership team, they must be a skilled communicator, effective leader, and business-driven person who will spur company growth, create and maintain key operational procedures, evolve processes, and ensure day-to-day operational excellence.

You will partner with the CSOO and their leadership team to drive focus, operating cadence, and efficiency to improve our strategic planning, operational performance, and ZEO experience using your leadership skills, systems thinking, and outcomes-based mindset.

The Strategy & Operations Office strives to make Zuora a scalable subscription business with a digital-first approach and a collaborative, high-performing culture. Its teams drive corporate strategy and provide the processes, systems, applications, and data for Zuora to be the best-run business in the Subscription Economy. The Office also advocates Zuora’s mission and strategy with customers, partners and analysts.

What You’ll Achieve

  • Engage business leaders and stakeholders in developing strategies and actions that are executable, measurable, and accountable
  • Orchestrate and support operational cadence activities via cross-functional collaboration
  • Guide the creation or evolution of systems that support these strategies so that results are adaptable, repeatable, and scalable
  • Use research and data analysis to inform insights into strategy discussions & operational plans
  • Anticipate needs and support the CSOO in driving executive leadership activities, publishing company-wide communications, and presenting at events.
  • Understand the gaps between the current and desired state in Strategy & Operations to drive operational excellence toward key results

What You’ll Need To Be Successful

  • M&A or post-merger integration is a definite advantage
  • Top-notch communication and presentation skills, including experience communicating insights through data with senior-level executives and rallying cross-functional teams through inspiration and vision
  • Excellent judgment and agility in problem-solving root issues
  • Business acumen and analytical skills including experience building business cases and models
  • Exceptional data analysis with the ability to find the trends and implications within data to inform sound business decisions
  • 8+ years experience within two or more functional areas (e.g., product management, product marketing, revenue strategy & operations)
  • Demonstrates relentless execution, resourcefulness, and delivering results in challenging situations (aka you get things done!)
  • Led across organizations and teams with the ability to drive strategic decisions, anticipate and resolve challenges through logic and reasoning
  • B2B Enterprise SaaS Software experience is a must
