Senior Category Manager
Job Summary: As a Senior Category Manager, you will effectively lead a team of Category Managers to ensure proper procedures and job responsibilities are being completed successfully. Additionally, you will also manage all aspects of an assigned line of products including sales, purchasing, pricing, and category management.
Duties and Responsibilities Description:
•Provide leadership to Category Managers (Direct Reports) and Merchandising support staff (Indirect reports)
•Responsible for managing their team for maximization of bill out through alternative sourcing, margin controls, ad fees, and forward buys
•Manage the Category Managers team with vendor issues, credit requests, paybacks, funding tracking, etc.
•Work with teams to hit the KPI goals for team and individuals as set by the Director of the department
•Review the assigned team's price changes for accuracy before implementation. Assure pertinent forward buys are maximized.
•Responsible for managing and negotiating vendor contracts that generate a steady income stream for the Division
•Help in the hiring process, training, and evaluations for employee development for assigned team members. Coach, develop, and mentor staff
•Attend Business Reviews as scheduled with the Director of the Department
•Responsible for managing and executing special projects demands that are set forth by senior management
•Develop strategic business plans for the categories assigned
•Develop sales, buying, and profit plans to meet target sales and margin budgets
•Manage product mix, variety, selection, and quality of items
Work Complexity: Provides leadership to managers; may also provide leadership to supervisors and/or professional staff. Has accountability for the performance and results of multiple related units. Develops departmental plans, including business, production, operational and/or organizational priorities. Controls resources and policy formation in area of responsibility. Decisions are guided by resource availability and functional objectives.

K/S/A/O Instructions Content Specialized Knowledge (List mental aspects of the job, i.e. training, licenses, areas of specialty or expertise): Supermarket experience at a Corporate level Special Skills (List skills needed to execute the job duties that will enhance the performance of the job): Category Management; Excel, Negotiation, organization, prioritization, problem solving, communication, and setting clear directions; Ability to multi task, Strong written and Verbal Communication skills Physical abilities: Ability to work outside of the home - in an office, grocery store, customer site, and at team meetings and industry events
